I needed a room for a short stay in Mt. Pleasant and the best price in my Hilton app was for this hotel. I am SO glad that I choose it. Though it’s tucked away off the main thoroughfare, its location is VERY convenient to many of Mt. Pleasant’s conveniences.
The stand out features for this hotel are 1) the staff and 2) its cleanliness.
I was greeted by the nicest gentleman who seemed truly happy to be a representative of his workplace. Friendly, accommodating, and informative. Later, in the evening, a young lady at the front desk happily assisted me in making sure my Doordash order (from a restaurant she recommended) made it to my room.
This hotel is CLEAN. Even though it’s pet friendly, you don’t smell a thing. There isn’t that hotel disinfectant funk either. It’s just a bright, barely noticeable and pleasant fragrance that permeates through the space.
I liked the modern decor and the absence of clunky, unnecessary furniture made my short stay perfect. I would advise families or people with longer stays to just be aware - no closets, no dressers - but it was perfect for my stay.
The design of the hotel included lots of lamps. I can’t sleep away from home without having some light on and there were about four lamps plus two overheads to choose from.
Electrical outlets and phone charging stations on the bedside lamps, huge television, large bathroom. All great. If I were to give the hotel any “dings,” it would be that the water pressure in the shower was a little low…but I like high pressure showers, so it’s probably fine for a normal person.
Oh! The soaps, lotions, shampoos and conditioners are all by this company called “Radio, Not Soap” or something like that. No wasted paper or gross bars of soap that you have to throw out at the end of your stay. You just use what you need. Squeeze it right out of the mounted bottles.
Breakfast was a total treat as well. Aside from fresh fruit, they had a wide assortment of cereal, juice, and the coolest little pancake machine! I actually ate the breakfast here and enjoyed it!
Lastly, the selection of snacks and beverages they have on hand is great.
There is a huge gym, a pool, and a pool table as well. I didn’t use any of those things, but next time, I’ll come prepared to do so.
Thanking the team for its hospitality! Truly...
Read moreHad a stay booked here from Saturday, April 20, 2024-Monday, April 22, 2024. Hotel was very clean - nothing wrong in that department. On Sunday, our second day staying, the fire alarm system was malfunctioning and causing the alarms to go intermittently off. This continued into the late night hours. I went down to the desk and asked for a full refund and a room booked at no cost to me at another Hilton property - as this fire alarm issue would have been unacceptable throughout the night (we had work early the next morning). Many guests came down to the desk had been woken up and were very frustrated at the situation. The front desk staff was completely unprepared and lacked competence, and informed me that they would refund me “in the next 30 days,” but were unable to book me another room at a different Hilton property. Although I did not feel it was my responsibility to pay to get another room at a different property, I bit the bullet, as we needed sleep and a place to stay as soon as possible.
I had to fight tooth and nail for a refund for the night we left, calling Hilton Guest Services 10+ times and explaining the situation. I emailed the manager of Tru by Hilton and never received a response. I was refunded only for the night we left and less than half of our first night, and had to put out hundreds of extra dollars for a last minute room in the area - and the loss of money for another Hilton property we tried to go to that was filthy, which we had to leave. We ultimately ended up checking into a non Hilton property at 2AM. The evening, and the entire process, turned into a nightmare. I am still going back and forth with Hilton Guest Services, as the Hilton hotel we tried to go to for another room has been charging my credit card hundreds of dollars months later for no reason - even though we literally walked in, informed Customer Care we were checking out, and walked out 5 minutes later. All of this could have been avoided if the Tru by Hilton was able to place us in another property that night at no extra...
Read moreThis hotel has SO much storage and space. Several extra crevices to store your items so you can actually enjoy the space you're staying in. There was under the bed storage, a long bench with top storage, middle storage and even 5 inches of space between the bottom and the floor, stylish hooks on the wall for separating each person's belongings (same thing in the bathroom) and PLENTY of USB ports all around the room that actually work. There is a nightlight built into the bathroom light switches that can be activated when pushed, and stays illuminated until a brighter light turns on. There are plenty of lights in the room for adequate lighting. The windows have mechanical curtains that you move up and down with a button the wall. The bathroom is very spacious and well lit. Very user friendly for wheelchairs and/or those needing to sit in the shower. It has a shower head coming from the wall, and another movable one. The lobby is very spacious and attractive for gatherings and a hangout space.
Overall, the design of this hotel is totally geared toward younger Millennials and Gen Z aged people. It will definitely give you the feel of a nicer hostel in Europe by its design, but is still the typical American hotel with private rooms and non-communal showers.
Downfalls: no coffee maker in the room for personal brewing & the shower does not contain the water even when the curtain is fully draped. There is about 3 inches of space between the floor and the curtain allowing water to easily seep out. There isn't an angle in the flooring that directs the water to flow to the drain in the shower. In fact, it actually ran into the rest of the bathroom. Definitely not ideal. Also, no ceiling fan in the bathroom to rid of...
