The staff here seem to enjoy being as unhelpful, rude and demeaning as they possibly can. The pharmacist working was condescending, unhelpful and presumptive. I will be filing a corporate complaint and finding a new pharmacy. Hopefully one with staff that are at least somewhat compassionate and understanding of how difficult it is to navigate the healthcare industry. Donât go here if youâd rather not be discriminated against and belittled.
Editâ
Adding a bit more here because I am incredibly frustrated and disappointed with the service at RiteAid and CVS. I switched to CVS about a year ago because RiteAid treated me like I was trying to purchase needles to use illegal substances. I went to CVS immediately after this experience at RiteAid and explained what happened, what I needed and that I would be switching to CVS for all of my pharmaceutical needs because they (CVS) treated me like a person. Itâs shameful they have now treated me just as RiteAid did. This policy of allowing the pharmacist to allow the sale of insulin needles at their own discretion should not be tolerated. For one, veterinarians ( at least the 3 I have been to in the last 2 years) will not write a prescription for insulin needles because a prescription is not needed. The pharmacist I spoke with yesterday (11/15/2024) tried to say I needed one before I mentioned that was false, then she immediately said âyouâre right, itâs up the pharmacists discretionâ. Why lie? Secondly, anyone who has taken anytime to learn about addiction and the dangers of drugs knows that a huge risk of drug use comes from sharing and reusing needles. Who are you to deny someone buying needles on a hunch that they may be using them to inject themselves? Theyâre paying for them and itâs none of your business. Mt. Shasta does indeed have a population of drug addicted individuals and your actions promote the spread of disease in their circles and therefore our community. As someone who literally studied medicine, how do you justify that to yourself?
Finally, if you have a diabetic pet, I recommend using Chewy or going to Walmart. Unfortunately, our Chewy order was delayed so I was hoping to get a few days supply to make up the difference. At the end of the day, I was able to get needles for my dog, Todd, elsewhere, but I worry about people who may not have the ability to drive 45 minutes to an hour to the closest Walmart. Their pets would then suffer and could potentially die due to diabetic related issues.
No matter which way I look at it, CVS and RiteAid have policies in place which allow mean-spirited, short-sighted pharmacists to meddle with peopleâs lives.
I sincerely hope both the cashier (brown hair, glasses, late middle aged woman) and the pharmacist (middle aged long blond hair woman) see and read this review and take a minute to think about how you treat fellow community members. In my case, aside from embarrassing me, you successfully punished an elderly 10 lb dog in the name of what? Contributing to the spread of disease in our own back yard? How shameful.
Here is Todd, the Brussels Griffon. He is diabetic and blind, but he is the sweetest boy...
Read moreThis is a very small CVS used primarily for prescriptions, over the counter meds and vaccination appointments. It is not the typical large CVS you find in bigger towns. That said, I love the kind and professional assistance I have received from the pharmacist and team. It is easy to schedule vaccines online and I get auto texts for meds. If you need a bigger selection of items (food, cosmetics, seasonal fare, baby supplies etc) it is better to go to the nearby larger RiteAid but for prescriptions and vaccines I prefer this small CVS for pharmaceutical advice and care. I really...
Read moreAfter Rite Aid has shut its pharmacy, I get prescriptions and OTC meds at CVS in Mount Shasta. The place can get very crowded. There is nowhere to lock up my bicycle outside of the store. Therefore, I bring my bicycle inside. Which makes it even more crowded. On the bright side, I appreciate the birthday coupon. You can load coupons onto your membership chip. I call a membership ship because itâs suitable as a keychain, but notoriously easy to lose. I signed up for my CVS membership shortly before Rite Aid closed....
