Mountain View Garden Center — Local services in Mountain View

Wow. What a great review/comments system we have here. It sure helps me feel better about my terrible experience there. And I thought I was too sensitive and maybe wrong about my impression about them.

Even though there maybe a few lucky customers got good services from this place, BUT I have to agree with the majority comments about how lousy the service is. The workers there are so unfriendly, rude and not helpful at all. I feel the management is responsible for the workers' bad attitude towards the customers. I have to add a new comment here. The woman owner who was standing nearby did not jump in to help out. She seemed to be so undisturbed by her worker's bad behavior towards the customer. Not enough training and control from the top down. I did not feel welcome and there was minimum offer of help to what I wanted. At least this time my simple questions did not get cursed back like the other customer. Don't go there if you can. Try Lyngso Garden Materials. I have been here on 3 different occasions and have had good experiences each time. A few years ago, I ordered gravel and mulch for delivery on my driveway and the driver was courteous and worked with me to get the material in the right spot.

Most recently, I had to buy some landscaping pebbles. I interfaced with Edgar and Terry in the front office, who were very helpful and did not give me attitude like other reviews mentioned. Mike also helped me forklift bags of rocks into my truck 4 times in one day and he was really friendly as well.

I would say that for a first-timer, this place is intimidating. There isn't really a clear place for you to park and if there are a lot of customers, there isn't much line etiquette. I have been to Mountain View Garden Center a few years back and would have highly recommended this place back then. This past week, I had requested a friend to purchase some sand and DG from them in 5g buckets that we had. Since they didn’t know how much these were supposed to cost, they purchased it. Only afterwards, when I saw the total, I figured that this place basically does daylight robbery now. I checked prices with South Bay materials and the total price for what we got was 30% of what my friend paid at MV Garden Center. When we called back, they did not accept returns either.
