The Salt Lake County Health Department has its uses and benefits. However, their phone service and ease of obtaining information is horrible. I spoke with three different people this morning (one of whom could barely speak or understand English), before being told they couldn't give me information about myself over the phone and I would have to submit a written request in person. Ridiculous. I can obtain information about my mortgage, information from my primary care physician, just about anything. But not from the SL Co Health Department. They ask questions over the phone that are inappropriate and provide very little information. Their safe sex counselors provide inaccurate information about hiv and create an overall stigmatizing environment. It’s not even worth coming in for free testing.
