We wanted to love Joyland and were excited to try it, as we had read many positive reviews about this restaurant, but sadly our dining experience was a bust.
After ordering our food, we found a table and highly anticipated our order. Our table was dirty, so we wiped it down ourselves. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our food. Another party who arrived before us seemed to have waited just as long, and I saw them get up several times to see why their order was taking so long. I overheard another diner say, āTheyāre having a cooking competition back there, and they said our food should be out in another 5-10 minutes.ā When our food finally arrived, we were missing the sauce that was supposed to come with our crustburgers and the plain cheeseburger we ordered for our toddler had onions inside. I walked up to the counter to ask for some sauce, but no employee came over to ask what I needed. I stood there for several minutes. I gave up and went back to the table to eat my dry crustburger. We had to eat quickly, as we had just one hour of free parking.
Side note- the restaurant inside was not busy, but perhaps they had several to-go orders lined up. Iām not sure why our food took so long and didnāt see anything that looked like a ācooking competitionā happening on the cooking line. The restaurant did not seem to be short-staffed, as I saw at least four employees when we arrived and another one who came in shortly afterwards. A party that arrived after us got so frustrated with their wait time that they started packing up their things to leave as we were leaving. They said they were going to dine elsewhere if their food didnāt arrive soon.
As we walked out the door, not one employee said anything to us. There were no smiles or gratitude for our business. We decided to go across the street for Bad Luck Burger Club (which was absolutely divine- our first time trying BLBC as well) since we were so unsatisfied with Joyland.
I really hate to leave a bad review, but my goal is that this feedback will be valued and used to improve the dining experience for others in the future. Both the food and the customer service left a lot to be desired and we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn a whim, I was driving by and saw that this was open around 7am, and there was parking available at a vacant lot across the street. I immediately pulled into it and ran inside to see what I could pick up on the way home. That's when I found their grab and go breakfast! We got a bacon burrito and a sausage biscuit. When i got home to share and eat it, our minds were blown. It was amazing. The sausage looked like chorizo and the eggs were so cheesy that my girlfriend thought it was pimento cheese. Both items were only $7 each also! I got a couple of hash brown waffles and a coffee with it, which were both out of this world. So we had to come back at the next opportunity. Lunch the next day we got a Crust burger and cheeseburger. I had to try the curly fries and new kind of burger to me. The copilot just loved their food too much and got what she already knew she loved. The crust burger was like a smashed patty with a smashed burger, a few red onions thinly sliced, and the most amazing American cheese I can remember having. The curly fries were the most perfect curly fries I've ever had. I am a huge fan of Jack in the Box curly fries, and these were a little bit better than those.
Walking in felt kinda like an old time-y diner with a modern twist. It was a pretty cool environment. It happened to be overloaded with unsupervised children that were wreaking havoc in the place.
Copilot: Deliciously tasty burger however nothing remarkably better than jack browns or Hugh-baby's. Waffle Hashbrowns were so burnt the interior potato didn't exist and must not be a common option for a side for lunch. With that being said I would opt for a more convenient option (parking is a struggle) unless opting for the grab and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst off, I want to apologize for dining here. Clearly, from the way we were treated at the register, we were an inconvenience to you as a customer. I never leave reviews- this experience was terrible and is the first and last time Iāll be stopping by.
I asked for clarification on what the specialty burger was because my girlfriend was interested in trying something unique to the restaurant and the lady at the register (already annoyed she had to take an order?) frustratedly explained what their crust burger was.. even though we didnāt see it posted anywhere besides an item listed on the menu.
Once we found out itās just the bun, I asked if I could have one but with an impossible patty. Iām a vegetarian so Iām used to not being picky or being able to try what restaurants are known for so I was excited to try their crust burger with an impossible patty. Turns out you cannot get an impossible burger patty on the altered bun (which is literally just a smushed bun toasted) which is whatever, but she was so unclear about it and kept saying āsingle or doubleā on the second crust burger .. which was confusing- because I already stated Iām a vegetarian and was wanting to order an impossible burger. So I clarified āso we Can get an impossible patty on a crust burger then?ā And we started All over but she was very irritated that I was asking.
I had to slow the conversation down and state
āI would like an impossible patty on a bun, if that canāt come crust burgerād then just regular.ā
It took everything in me to not be rude back- but Iām on vacation.
Burger was fine. Crust burger was nothing to write home about from by girlfriend but their patty was good she said.
Just a super weird experience - I donāt recommend...
