I doubt management at Target reads these reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience today - specifically with Target 'mobile'. I recognize that today is Black Friday. I have worked in retail before. Things are chaotic. Sometimes you are understaffed, customers can be difficult, etc. I get it.
That does not make it acceptable to straight up lie to people repeatedly, especially after they have been waiting in your store for SEVEN hours. All for the sake of sales. In the past 24 hours, I personally witnessed several other customers be severely inconvenienced by these untruths - thinly veiled and morally bankrupt sales tactics.
I won't go into details about the specifics of my situation today, but ask anyone who came into the electronics department today and they would know that I was essentially a permanent fixture as I waited, from 8am to 3pm, for the Target Tech/Mobile department to activate a new iPhone for me. It was like a nightmare you couldn't wake from. To add insult to injury, I walked away empty handed (and hungry and dehydrated)...
In a lot of cases, these type of scathing reviews are unfair, and not entirely truthful. There are 2 sides to every story and at least SOME of the fault lies with the customer in some way. While I don't proclaim to be perfect, and I despise playing the 'victim', I can assure you my tumultuous experience today was ENTIRELY due to their poor handling and management.
I plan to share details of my encounter today with everyone that I know. My household will not spend a single dollar at Target again - which is disappointing because I always saw them as "the good guys", especially as a better alternative to the big blue W.
Edit: I want to be clear, I was not waiting the entire time to be helped. That was only the first 1.5 hours. I was being 'helped" for the 5.5...
Read morei went to target a few weeks ago. i have not tried anything on there before. i decided i was going to look at jeans and try them on. when i get to go to the dressing rooms i politely asked the women at the desk what the procedure was for trying clothes on do i just go back? the women replied “umm no you need to tell me how many you have”. i apologized and said “im sorry i dont try clothes on usually when i come here and didnt know what the policy was” she looked at me and said “no need for the attitude” i thought to myself i must of misheard and asked for her to repeat it and she said “ you heard me no need for the attitude” i tried telling the women that was absolutely not my intention but she said “I DONT CARE”. i proceeded to asked for her name that i was going to talk to the manager yet again she said “i don’t care go ahead” her name was “Miss T”. i told a manger and she rolled her eyes and said “not again”. this is telling me this women has mistreated and have been disrespectful many times to customers. the manger gave me a $10 dollar gift card and apologized but brushing it off. i told the manger that i still wanted to try them on but felt uncomfortable with the women. after asking the manger to walk back with me while i tried the on Miss T immediately started making passive aggressive comments such as “no one was stopping you from trying anything on” and speaking under her breathe. i also heard bits and pieces of this women talking about me to the manger while she waited outside. i understand the manger may have been in a tough position but the manger did not stand up for me at all. No one should be treated this way especially after the manger making it seem that this is an ongoing issue...
Read moreThere are many Targets in the world, but this one stands apart, not for grandeur or splendor, but for something simpler, something more profound: reliability. It is a place where one may always find what they seek, particularly the rare and wonderful Dr. Bronner’s soap—almond and peppermint alike. Other stores may fail in this regard, their shelves left barren, but here, there is always a quiet assurance that what is needed will be waiting.
It is not merely a place of commerce but of provision. The groceries are not vast, yet they are sufficient. Bread and milk, eggs and coffee—enough for the day, for the week, for the moments in between. There is a pharmacy, efficient and untroubled, a place where burdens are lessened with little delay.
And there is an eye doctor, Dr. Kelli Jackson, who is not merely a practitioner of her craft but a master of it. She does not rush. She does not dismiss. She sees clearly—not only the eyes before her but the person behind them. One walks in uncertain, squinting at the world, and walks out with sight restored, with vision sharpened, as if some deeper truth has been revealed.
The store is well-kept. The people are kind, though not excessively so. They do not linger or press upon you with undue enthusiasm, but they are there when needed. The checkout lines, at times, are long—too long, one might say—but such trials are small in the grander scheme of things. One endures, for one knows that in the end, they will leave with what they came for.
And so, though it is but a simple store, it is a good one. A place worth returning to. Because in a world of uncertainty, it is good to know that some things...
