Bear Town Cinema — Local services in New Bern

This is the best movie theatre option offered in the city of New Bern. The parking lot is not that big and it is hard to find a spot when big hit movies are showing. The parking to the right of the building is mostly a dirt road with trees and pot-holes so avoid of possible. Staff is friendly and efficient and I've never had any issues with service. They have made improvement in the past few years working to expand their offered food items as well as improve seating. Many combos are offered and candy options are available. The popcorn is popped fresh and you can even request for them to fill your bag halfway so you can put salt on it before they too it off. They also sell different flavored popcorn seasoning such as caramel or smores seasoning. Alcoholic beverages and now offered and sold in this theatre at a bar located to the right upon walking in. I find the seats to be overall comfortable and the best seats are in the big theatre where they show the more popular movies. Show up to the movie a few minutes early so you can find seating easily. Once the lights go off the lights on the floor aren't enough to see where you are going so you'll have to hope your eyes adjust it use your phone. Love, love, LOVE this theatre! Loved it when it was still Southgate & love it even more now that it's Bear Town, has a bar, and is owned and operated by friends of my husband and I; however, I'd still love it just as much, and my review would be just as glowing, were it owned by complete strangers. That being said, we DO know the husband & wife team that own and operate this theatre and as such know that they require & demand excellence of their businesses, their business managers, and their employees. Because of this you'll find standards of excellence at their businesses that are sorely lacking at other, similarly classed businesses in this po-dunk, hole-in-the-wall, wannabe more important than it actually is, town. Of the TWO theatre complexes in New Bern this is the cleaner, nicer, more up-to-date of the two. The employees are friendly, efficient and courteous and are trained to assist the customer's needs with a smile. Not only is this the better of the two currently existing theaters in town, but it offers more titles at once and, if rumors are to be believed, by this time next year it will offer not 6, but 10 {TEN} movie titles to choose from and an enlarged bar service area, as there are plans in the works to remodel and enlarge this theatre once again.

I was totally satisfied with everything they had to offer. Only one time have I been there and had any kind of inconvenience. And it was minor because we still had perfect seating. I think two rows of seating were without power and I have been here since then and that has been fixed. They told us about it ahead of time and even let us go pick our seats before we paid so it really doesn't count as a problem to me. But to be fair to you I feel a heads up may be nice. I definitely recommend going here for any new release because you will always have a good seat and a clean place to watch a movie. All the seats are reclining and super comfortable. The snacks and popcorn like any other place is how they keep the lights on. So most of what you spend will depend on that. Highly...
