NC DONUTS — Restaurant in New Bern

Listen here. This spot is the absolute best around, there is no debate about it. I have been to donut spots around the country and this is top 5. I wanted to get up early to get the freshest ones possible but I had one too many the night before and didn't step foot in the door till 11 am. but let me tell you when I came, 4 hours before they closed might I add, gramps was still slinging donuts like it was a national sport. I got a half dozen with my wife and we split it but some way some how these donuts were warm, crispy on the outside and soft and pillow-y on the inside. The glaze on top was moist and still gooey without making a toddler style mess on your hands. I have this spot in my top 5 for sures where as the wife said it's the best donut she's ever had. Please support this place cause gramps deserves it for his hard work.

P.S if you were the lady behind me who asked if they had tree nuts in anything. Stop eating anywhere they have nuts in general, the cross contamination that happens at nut processing plants is crazy and I'm certain gramps ain't pre screening every product...

THIS IS MY FAVORITE PLACE EVER. SO much better than Dunkin’ Donuts!!! And dangerously close to my house. 😂 These donuts melt in your mouth! They are California-style donuts that are light and fluffy, and they have an awesome array of options from toppings to filled to twists to bearclaws. The people are amazingly nice and serve so quickly. I’ll be bringing these to work as often as I can just to have another excuse to stop in! To be honest when I walked over from the salon next door, I did not think they were going to be good. I am pretty picky about donuts, but I got a dozen for us to try anyway. I must say, they were absolutely delicious. Having grown up between here amd Wilmington Britts in Carolina Beach is my favorite and hard to beat. Never had a donut even come close.
