Extremely Affordable phone repair. Quick and easy service. Complementary port cleaning! Aside from repairs they also had a wide range of extremely Affordable refurbished laptops, phones and consoles. They also have financing for these items that don't require a credit check.
Liberty was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The back of my pixel 7a was falling off and needed to be reglued and I had been having problems with the charging port for months and months. The fee for reglueing the back (the main issue) was just $30 and they had free port cleaning which has completely fixed my issue with charging my phone. This repair has saved me so much money as now I don't need to purchase a new phone for quite some time!
A good way to judge a business is also how they treat their staff. Chynna was an extremely friendly new hire who processed my ticket. Liberty was extremely patient and supportive when confirming that Chynna had done it correctly with some suggestions for future processing.
Both staff were pleasant and easy to talk to during the 30+ minute wait for the repair. Liberty was exceptionally knowledgeable about everything regarding the shop and had "good manager energy" about her. She was straightforward about everything.
When filling out the ticket, Chynna had requested my IMEI as per the forms instructions. (Android users can get this by entering into the phone app *#06#) I gave it willingly but didn't know why they would need it. Research later showed that shops do this to see if a phone was stolen. I later fretted about whether they could clone my phone with this information, but my fears have since been assuaged as you will see later.
She had then asked for my PIN, which I was of course hesitant to give for a hardware repair. She immediately noticed my discomfort and assured me it wasn't necessary and I was relieved when Katie, the tech who then worked on my phone, informed her that there was no need for this kind of repair. The tech knew her stuff! Really glad to have Katie.
I am an extremely paranoid person by nature, especially when there is a knowledge gap with services (mechanics, IT). I had mistakenly given my phone unlocked when I first arrived and it was taken back for the techs to diagnose the issue, but the same app I had opened previously was on my phone when it was returned. I had locked my phone when giving it to them for repairs. The repair took longer than I thought it would so when I got home I changed all my passwords, and made sure nothing new had been installed on my phone. I called my service provider to ensure my phone (and network) had not been cloned. All checks were passed, which is not a guarantee- I have gone to other repair shops in New Bern that put remote access software on my computer (as a feature!).
While iFixNC has done a good job, here is some good advice when bringing in tech to ANY repair shop for repair: Maintain good digital sanitation. Back up your phone (for Android users use takeout.google.com), remove your sim card, turn it off for hardware repairs and only let them access the unlocked phone when it is In Front of you. If they will have access to your phone away from you, turn on a guest account if your phone has that feature.
In order to complete the repair in a timely manner, the phone had to go through an oven (to dry the glue). It was returned to me piping hot. I had originally believed that this had caused some minor damage to my phone (my Google timeline had disappeared) and my homewifi network was shown to have a duplicate on my phone but not my other devices (computer, etc.). I had assumed that this was due to the phone being over-heated, but after some research I discovered that Google had updated maps to remove the timeline feature except on singular devices (and did manage to import the old data from a back up, phew) so that was a conscience and had nothing to do with the repair job. My home router had always had two bands, and changing the password and manually reconnecting the devices confirmed that it was not a result of anything done...
Read moreNeeded to get my headphone jack replaced (the charging port gets replaced as well for this repair) on my iphone6s+, these guys had a decent price and were located close by so I decided to give them a shot. The replacement itself took longer than they anticipated but I won’t give them too hard of a time for that, the real issue came afterwards. It took a day or so for me to notice that my phone was now quickly draining battery, and taking ages to complete a charge. It didn’t take long for me get fed up, and decided I would speak with them to address the issue. They confirmed that the phone was no longer charging at full potential, but absolutely refused to accept that the problem occurred because of the work they did on the phone. They repeatedly told me the battery needed to be replaced (which they could do for the regular fee) and that that’s all they could do for me. I continued to argue the fact that the problem started after they had taken my phone apart, and that the problem very well could have come from the replacement part. After doing some online research to back up my claims that a defective, or damaged charging port may be the culprit of a slowly charging cell phone, the manager finally, reluctantly, gave my phone over to a technician to be looked at. During my wait I saw one example after another of terrible customer service skills as customers came and went unsatisfied. But that’s neither here nor there. Finally the phone was passed back through the little service window and I was told I was set to go. I had the fella at the front desk check the charge one last time, and wouldn’t you know it, it was back to original condition. What should have been a simple quick quality check when confronted by the possibility of a faulty install (which would have left me as a happy customer) turned into me having to argue my way to what should have been done to begin with. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I have made the decision to not return...
Read moreI brought my iPhone 14 Pro Max to have its screen replaced here, the new screen that was put onto my iPhone from iFixNC was faulty. It would go black and not turn back on and was forcing me to reset the phone every hour or so. The screen was faulty from the moment I left after picking my phone up so I suppose making sure the work they do isn’t high on the priority list. I took the phone back the next week and under warranty they replaced the screen they had already replaced with a new screen… and yup you guess it, it was another faulty screen. Only this time the screen had a full failure while I was traveling out of state and left with no option but to get a new phone. I also spent 30$ on a screen protector for the first replacement screen, and when the second screen was put onto they never called and put on a different style screen protector that was clearly not for a pro max as the protector was too small. After heading to the store today to discuss my issues I was told “we can put a new screen under the warranty window for your new phone if it needs it”. So the only solution offered to me was if my brand new phone that I had to buy needs a new screen under the same time they have given me a warranty for the 250$ screen replacement that I had 2 of and issues with both replacements they would do that. Well iFixNC since I had to buy a replacement phone, which btw is the reason I spent the money to get my screen “fixed” with you in the first place the new phone has a factory warranty. Having multiple issues like this and no resolution other than telling me politely to kick rocks is absurd. I would never come back here and urge whoever reads this to do the same, ultimately they scammed me from 280$ and never fixed the issue in the first place. They damn sure expect payment well I damn sure expect the services I pay for to be done and to be done well and correct the first time, and I did not have even a remotely close...
