Waffle House — Restaurant in New Bern

Everything was okay, food was good except for my waffle. It was supposed to be chocolate chip, they put them on after I pointed them out, which was okay but they weren’t melted so I had hard chunks in my waffle. The only thing that I have to really say was negative was the service. I mean, it was okay. I think this is more of a training issue rather than my server being bad and she wasn’t. The entire time I was eating, the server was sitting right next to me eating as well. Not washing her hands in between bites and delivering customers food. Sitting down, spoon full of food in her mouth, didn’t even get up to check on me but turned around, stretched over to my table, barely making it and telling me “Here’s your ticket.” She seems sweet, like I said, I think this is a training issue. Everyone gets hungry, I know that. I feel like she should have been on break or atleast washing her hands and not have a full mouth of food while serving. I stopped coming in for awhile because this is an ongoing problem at this location. It seems to only be the waitresses. There was one woman in there this morning who I noticed was politely approaching tables, not eating in between orders, cleaning in a timely manner, etc,… I think her name was Cheryl. Also, if there are ranks to shirts, I saw that there was only one grey shirt on staff while all her fellow blue shirts. She was also eating, not washing hands, gossiping and then getting back to work. Other than that, the food was great, the staff seemed friendly. Regulars were happy and it looked rather clean inside. I would love to give this location another try, just don’t want someone to ask me what I want to eat if they still haven’t swallowed...

This waffle house used to be pretty good but the pat two times my boyfriend and i have gone it has been awful. i usually do not write reviews but it’s so gross. The most recent experience was today, our server was Nye, she did not greet us, she came over said “what drinks” and then moved on, when she got back we were ready to order, and she walked away without taking our menus even though they were being handed to her. Our food came out and she sat it down and walked away without saying anything. She then walked outside telling her coworker “i already dropped their ticket”. the time before that we went on febuary 27. nye was also the server. she again did not greet us, she wasn’t doing anything, yet every table in the resturant was dirty, we sat down and cleaned our own table. she grabbed us drinks and there was little black particles in my sprite, i let Nye know, she then dumped my cup out, and just shoved in back into the ice (after i touched it, my boyfriend touched it, and she touched it). my boyfriend was going to comment on it the next time she came over, but that next time was her dropping off the food, which was not dropping it off at all. she stood there with her arm extended (NOT SAYING A WORD) , making my boyfriend take the plates off of her arm, even the one she was holding in her hand. as a waitress, a food runner, a table busser, and a shiftlead, i am appalled at our last two experiences. i would reccomend staying away from this location, especially if Nye is the server. I will stick to other...

My family went there for lunch around 3 today and it was busy. Every other table was full (Covid closed all the open tables), someone would get up to leave and before you knew it the table was taken again, to go orders coming in, and the two women working seemed a little overwhelmed but they remained friendly and kept the service fast. My only complaint would be that another Waffle House employee was there and came out for a little and didn't lend a helping hand, but I suppose he was too busy in the back to help cook for a little. While they could have definitely used another hand, Mya, our waitress, remained friendly and fast our whole meal. Ashley did a great job multitasking while cooking. My daughter and I enjoyed watching her bounce back and forth between the waffles, grits, bacon, and eggs. I am very happy given there were only 2 employees working that I didn't have a terrible wait for food and everytime I asked for something (refill, syrup, to go container) it was always cared for in a timely and friendly manner. I'm sure if they had a hand I'd have my drink refilled without asking. The food was perfect! We got a well done side of bacon and regular bacon. Other restaurants would've ended up giving us both well done bacon. The food came out as fast as it was done. Good job...
