T.J. Maxx — Local services in New Braunfels

I have always felt profiled when I visited this store. The manager is always chasing behind me, even though I never even carry a purse. I came in today and I had just purchased some makeup from ulta (right next door) and was given a very small orange bag. I carried it with me and put my keys and phone in the Ulta bag as I shopped around the store. I had some clothes I wanted to try on so as I am getting the number of items I’m trying on counted the assistant in the dressing room tapped my bag and tried taking it from me. I told her she could look inside but that I wanted to take it (since it had my personal items). She kept insisting I leave it, until I had no other choice. I told her she could look through it so she could back off, but she said she “trusted me” even after tapping my bag and practically yanking it from me. It was very upsetting to be treated like a criminal even when I was very willing to have my bags searched. I will definitely not be returning...

Walking into TJ Maxx is like going on a treasure hunt where the treasure is usually something you didn’t know you needed until you saw it. A candle? Yes. A throw blanket I already own in three other colors? Absolutely. A random gourmet pasta I’m convinced will change my life? Into the cart it goes.

The deals are great, the selection is always rotating, and honestly, it feels like cardio trying to make it through the whole store without getting distracted. The staff is friendly, the prices are unbeatable, and where else can you leave with a pair of shoes, a new skillet, and a motivational wall sign — all for under $50?

I recently had a situation where I realized when I got home that the boots I bought did not match. I went back to the store to return them and much to my dismay they didn’t have anymore of the boots I wanted in stock to correct the mishap. The sales associate that helped me was Tiani (I hope I spelled that right) - she graciously offered, after she processed my return, to check in the back and see if by chance they had placed the missing partners aside. Sure enough they did! She came back with the partner to the boots! I was so elated and also so thankful that she went the extra mile to try to resolve the situation.
