My daughter and I went here to try something different for breakfast. We thought we could get some great breakfast tacos, but on weekends it is more like an upscale brunch atmosphere. I ordered chiliquiles and was disappointed that my eggs were not mixed with the corn tortillas and the corn tortillas were soggy not crispy. The presentation was nice, however since it was served in a skillet...logical thought would be that my food would be hot(temperature).? It was, at best, lukewarm. I asked for tortillas, even though the sign on the restaurant says Lupe Tortilla, the tortillas brought out were huge and thin(the ones used to roll up burritos). Okay, not the greatest and they did not have much flavor. My daughter ordered the belgian waffle topped with fruit. She is a kid and said the fruit tasted bad...it was a strawberry tequila syrup...not the best idea because it did have an after taste. The service was okay, he did hover a bit and seemed in a hurry to get us to order, even after mentioning we have never been there. Customer service goes a long way when you mention select items on the menu, throw out a suggestion, be welcoming to a new guest...?? I did mention the temperature of the food, he offered a sorry without any options to get a discount, or do a re-do on the ordered item, or check with a manager. Needless to say, live and learn the upscale cantina decor and service and food is a no-go for us. I know the food industry took a hit during the pandemic and everyone is getting back on their feet, but I work hard for my money and have no trouble spending it and praising a place that would be worth it. The bar tender came up and said he was only in training and couldnāt make drinks that why he didnāt serve us. My response was can you not pour a beer and two ice waters? As we waited fir our drinks, our table came up available. As we ordered, drinks that had to be reordered. We asked for pina coloda and margarita. These drinks didnāt come till after we got our food and we had to ask for them! Especially since I ordered the drinks then ordered the food. We placed our order for the food and told the waitress no onions in the cheese enchiladas. Only because of an onion allergy. When the plate came out everything was covered in onions. We had to send the dish back. The waitress came back and said we couldnāt order anything because they put onions in everything. So I asked could we get the enchiladas with just cheese and queso and refried beans. She said yes. Then she returned and said there would only be 2 enchiladas on the plate and thatās all. Oh she also said we would have to pay full price. $25.00 for the 2 enchiladas. I asked was there anything else with no onions we could get, or if we could get a reduced cost since we werenāt getting all the rest of the dish. She said we donāt do that after she brought out 2 enchiladas after we were already finishing up our other meals. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the chicken tacos. The chicken was basically one long nugget inside a puffy taco shell. Not a lot of flavor and not very filling for the price. My wife had the chicken burrito. It was fine, nothing special. The chicken was overly salty. What they were calling refried beans looked like thicker charro beans. The beans weren't mashed. The actual charro beans were very good. The chips and salsa were good, too. Server was very friendly but disappeared for long periods of time. A manager had to come by and get us refills. The food and service were not worth the steep price. Update on 6/16... I ate at the restaurant on 6/8 and posted my review on the same day. They responded to my review through google maps (on 6/9) and requested some info. I sent the requested info via email within a couple hours of the request. I heard nothing for days until I sent another email on 6/12 asking for a status. I received an email response the same day promising gift cards but it's now 6/16 (4 days later) and I still haven't received anything.
So, it's now been 8 days since my visit and review and I've only received responses when I reach out and have yet to receive the promised gift cards. It's no wonder the food and service are subpar... even your corporate and local management can't even get their act together. You can keep the gift cards... I won't be using them. You all have failed spectacularly and repeatedly and you're supposed to be the ones fixing the initial...
