Plum Plums cheese is the best spot for gourmet groceries in Fairfield or Westchester Counties. I’ve been shopping here for many years, since they were based in our little town of Pound Ridge.
Yes, Plum Plums has amazing cheeses (the Beaufort d’ete is my favorite), but they also have so much more. For example I love the charcuterie — the bresola and mortadella are my favorites. And they stock amazing dry aged steaks (saves me a trip to the butcher!). Plus I always stock up on little things I like to have around the house like olives, nuts and chocolates.
So the vibe is more like a high-end European Epicerie, with one big difference… the owners are super friendly and helpful! They’re always willing to take the time to explain the different offerings, tell the fascinating stories behind each of the cheeses, and even offer samples so you can figure out what you like best. They also have the best grilled cheese you’ve ever tasted. My favorite has Gruyere, Prosciutto and this special mustard that makes for the perfect panini. Paired with their tomato soup it’s a classic, delicious lunch that I grab as a bonus while shopping.
I would give Plum Plums my highest recommendation and hope they continue to grown in their gorgeous new space...
Read more3 1/2 stars First impressions are everything right? Let me start off by saying their product (cheese) and experience (education) is perfect. That is why we drove 30 mins and waited in line for 10 mins. I also acknowledge COVID is among us and so social distancing in the store should be strictly enforced. But that does not give the male owner reason to be rude to customers.
It was my first time visiting but my partner has been several times. The front door was open. One customer left the store and so we walked in to get a closer look at the boards only to be yelled at like a child: “Please get out. I will call you in when I’m ready for you.” The message was fine but the tone was really bad. I instantly wanted to be anywhere in the world but in that man’s store offering him our money.
I almost left without purchase but I wanted my partner to try to enjoy the experience. I will let my partner bring the cheese home; I will not be back. It is a shame because we intended to buy more but I really just wanted to get out of there. Successful businesses should not take customers...
Read moreI have been using Plum Plums for the past 4 years for all of my cheese and Charcuterie needs. I shop there for events, Christmas presents, pretty much anytime I can find an excuse. The new store is beautiful, and offers many additional choices including high end cuts of meat, spread, jams, ceramics etc. Everything they carry is impeccable. I have many choices for high quality foods, living in Manhattan, but when I needed 4 platters for a party I was throwing last week, I immediately called Michael and Gayle, who absolutely outdid themselves. If you are looking for the best quality, selection and service, you have to go to Plum Plums.
PS - you have to try their new pistachio feta spread. It’s out...
