I went to go to their garden center, it was stocked and clean. But there was no one around to help was disappointed with some of their flowers as they looked as if they had not been watered in days. I was looking to possibly grab a few plants at a good price as being the end of the year you can sometimes get a good price on them. I also needed potting soil and wanted to find a pot that was a bit bigger than the one my Hibiscus tree was already in. Larger pots are hard to find but with no one there to assist I was very limited to what I could reach on my own and ended up unfortunately grabbing one that is not much bigger. Overall I left dissatisfied again. Prior to this I called Home Depot to order 2 windows and with everyone offering different ordering options due to the pandemic thought that this would be a easy thing to do. At first the phone rang and rang, when I tried the 2nd time someone finally picked up on the 9th ring. I stated what I needed and was transferred to mill work, The Man who answered at first was fine but kept trying to get me to have them come out for a quote to replace the windows. I repeatedly stated that I just wanted to order the windows he then said whom will install them? Honestly I thought that he was being nosy but I did answer myself and a friend he then said well have the person who will be installing them to call with the measurements. I said that I had the measurements and again I would be installing them. Then he said have your carpenter call, I again said I have the measurements and I didn't understand why he would not listen to me he said I hope you measure correctly when I said I had worked in construction for over 20 years he didn't respond and then said when your carpenter measures it have him call and then hung up. I tried to call back multiple times that day and every time they transferred me a different department picked it up one gentleman in Lumber who I spoke a bit harsh to at first said that he was sorry for what happened it was wrong and was going to transfer me to someone else who could help but after 2 rings it hung up a few days after I received a call from a girl to set up a appointment for someone to come out for a consult for installing windows I quickly explained to her that I was only looking to order windows not installation and she said ok and hung up. Although I have not had the time to order the windows yet I highly doubt it will be through home depot the whole call was disturbing on many levels. I have already stopped utilizing them for the business and will certainly try to go to anyone else first because of how I was treated....

When an employee feels free and comfortable to say "I don't like you, sir" you know there's something wrong with the way the company hires.
I shop at home depot 1 - 3 times a week. I've had mostly good experiences and one or two bad experiences with employees. As we know it only take one bad experience to taint an otherwise good relationship.
Today, I had a technical question about a dado blade for my table saw and was looking for a hardware specialist. I asked the older man with the thick accent that mostly works the key kiosk if there was a hardware specialist around. He asked if he could help me. I had a feeling my question was beyond his knowledge base but gave it a try any way. "I have a question about saws." "What kind of saws?" Home Depot employee asked. "Table saws" I said. The employee just stared at me. "Table saws" I said again, and the blank stare continued. I said once more and it appeared to click. "Ok sir what's your question." The employee asked. "This is an 8 inch Dado blade and I have 10 inch saw, is this the ideal blade for my saw?" "Yes it's what we have in stock." The employee answered. That's not what I asked, so I rephrased. "Is this this best size for my saw, or do they make a 10 inch blade?" "It's what we have in stock so yes.." The employee answered. "Annoyed that the employee was clearly misunderstanding, I said Ok thank you and walked away, at which point the employee in a stage wisper said, "I don't like you, sir..."
At which point I turn around and said "Excuse me?!" "I just don't want to give you the wrong information sir" He said, pretending like he didn't just express a very personal private negative feeling about a customer loyal to the store...
I'm loyal to Home Depot but experiences like today make me think twice about my loyalty. I'm very disappointed in this example, of type of person Home Depot chose to hire. As an employee I have been tested to the limit and would NEVER think of uttering such sentiment to a good, consistent and...
Read moreI had dropped by here because it was on my way home and I needed an outdoor garbage can. Should’ve been a 5 minute trip, ten at most.
I find the can I want but cannot locate the lid that comes with it. Search for about five minutes then enlisted the help of a nice gentleman. He couldn’t find it either. He calls for assistance. Second person comes. Can’t find it. Second person calls for assistance. Third person comes. Can’t find it. Third person calls for assistance. Fourth person comes. Can’t find it.
The original person that helped me says he would see if they could give me a more expensive can that has the lid for the same price since no one can locate the missing lids. The can I wanted was $38. This other one was $98. So, big price difference. The manager, Jen, stands at the beginning of the aisle. Did not come to talk to me but I hear the conversation. One of the men who helped me explains the situation to her and says we can’t find the kids for these cans but there is another similar can for $98. Could we give her that one for the price of the one she wants? Nope. She can only give me half off. Walks away. Man comes back to tell me their offer so I say No. I’ve been here now for a half hour at this point.
Could I have paid the $98 or half of that for the more expensive can? Yes I could’ve. It was the principle of the situation. HD profit revenue in 2024 was over $150 BILLION DOLLARS. They could’ve spared SIXTY DOLLARS to make a customer happy for something that was...
