I discovered this shop during a work trip to NOLA, and the voodoo stone they sell immediately caught my eye. I ended up purchasing a ring and was excited to learn that they had a website for future orders. Since we arrived close to closing time, I didn’t get much time to browse, so having the website was perfect.
After leaving NOLA, I placed four more orders. Unfortunately, I encountered an issue with one purchase I sent to my mother-in-law for Christmas. The shop’s system auto-corrected her address incorrectly, causing the package to be delayed and not arrive in time for the holiday. When I called to inquire, the staff acknowledged the issue and assured me they would reship the order since the original package was being returned to them. I appreciated their willingness to fix the mistake and remained patient, understanding that things happen.
However, when the replacement package arrived, it was missing the earrings I ordered, and the ring was the wrong size (size 7 instead of the size 8 I had originally purchased). I contacted the store again, and a gentleman the same one from my first encounter assured me he would follow up with me later that day or the following day. After waiting a week with no response, I attempted to call multiple times, left messages, and even sent texts—but I received no reply. I was aware of the recent attack in NOLA, but since the shop was not in that area I figured it was still operational, but decided to continued to wait incase.
By the end of January, after a month of trying to resolve the issue, I had no choice but to contact my bank and file a dispute. It was only then that the shop finally responded—but instead of addressing the situation professionally, the gentleman (same one from before) was extremely rude and told me to never shop with them again simply because I filed a chargeback. I explained that I had been patient and had given them ample time to resolve the issue, but instead of taking accountability, they chose to blame the customer. This was particularly disappointing because I had been a repeat customer and was even considering purchasing a gold engagement ring from them. However, I refuse to support a business that disregards its customers and treats them poorly when an issue arises—especially one that was not the customer’s fault. I sincerely hope the owner is aware of how poorly their staff handled this situation. If they value their customers, they should address these service failures and train their team to handle issues more professionally. I wanted to replace something very special that I had lost and I couldn’t be more grateful for the kindness and service of everyone working in the store, especially Gil! He’s an absolute gem! I’d already scoped out some of their selection online, checked out the 2 rings I’d had my eye on and Gil helped me decide between them. I ended up buying the less expensive one (a beautiful morganite and rose gold piece). He was so honest and it was obvious that he cared more about which one suited me than the money which is so rare and refreshing especially for any sales-based industry. After that he happily entertained me as I browsed the rest of the things in the store that I obviously had no intention of buying. I could’ve hung out there for hours if I didn’t have somewhere else to be. Then, as if my experience wasn’t already amazing enough, as I was about to pay he told me to put one of the voodoo stone bracelets on my wrist, so I did, and he told me to keep it there.
