Heads up, this will be lengthy. Ok, this was our first time at this restaurant, and we were a party of three. It didn't look packed at all. We stood at the door to be recognized almost 15 mins later just to tell us that a hostess would be with us shortly. The killer part was the lady who told us that was taking a tables order right in front of us. She was also the same lady who came and answered the phone right next to us before she started their order. Well, that was another 5 mins before another lady came. We asked about sitting upstairs on the balcony, and we were told they had to check and came back a couple mins later and said we had to wait 15 mins, so we sat at the bar. Ok, now the bar tender. I asked if he recommended any drinks, and he said the Mardi Gras Mule, I believe, was the name. Well, none of us chose that. Not one time did he recommend the bottomless mimosas as we were there in time for them. So, for three drinks, it was $38.66. The picture will be added. I had the 4th Ward, which was delicious, by the way. That will be the š·. After some time, I was not sure how much, but we finally was told our table was ready. It was beautiful on the balcony, I must say. The food was a mess. Ok, i wanted the alligator sausage, and it was a misunderstanding about it, apparently, so I just ate what was bought out to me, which was just alligator. It was not all that good, but it wasn't nasty either.(It came with coleslaw and it was not good at all) The onion soup was salty and had a lot of grease on top of it. The spinach dip was good. I had the salmon with shrimp. I omitted the jambalaya and got potatoe salad. I must say the salmon and shrimp it was delicious, not the potatoe salad. The Eggs Pontchartrain was ok even though they got the order wrong but fixed it. The crab cakes were a bit salty and spicy. The Ham and Cheese omlet was horrible. The waitress was not good. She never offered any drinks or anything. She didn't even offer us the bottomless mimosas either, and she saw us with drinks. We had to stop her and ask her for stuff. Then she got off before finishing us, so she handed us to another waitress. Well, our bill was $163.00. This is a restaurant that you will not get full from, and it will hit your pockets. Try at your own risk because maybe we chose a bad time due to the star ratings. Then again, it is in a tourist area. Sorry, I dont have pictures of the rest of the food because my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a local who enjoys going out to eat on a regular basis to support our local restaurants and write reviews to inspire people to go to incredible places that highlight the culture of our city, Curio is at the bottom of totem pole. One that is not worth the visit nor the terrible experience.
Not only did they NOT honor the restaurant week menu and instead over-charge us by $50, but the staff, especially George and his friend at the front -that spent more time on their phone than engaging the customers that were waiting to sit down while it was pouring down rain -were absolutely rude and disrespectful to guest, myself, and my party.
I called to speak to a manager to question why the overcharge on the bill, and was mocked by the employee George with his comment "you wanna speak to the manager" and left on hold only to be told that they will "take a message and give it to the GM in the morning.." because the manager on duty "didn't have time to speak" to me.
When I asked why he made fun of me on the phone to the other employee, he said "you were being sarcastic," when I literally asked him to speak to the manager that is on duty. George and the other kid working the front door became increasingly disrespectful, and reiterated that they didn't have a manager working now and in the same breath wanted me to leave my information so the GM would "call me in the morning" because "no one is here that is going to speak to you or do anything about it."
George and his friend should not be employed there. Especially if that is how they are going to represent a New Orleans establishment that is supposed to be a part of a locals event called Restaurant Week highlighting restaurants that were at one time worth visiting.
The food was underwhelming, and just overpriced bar food with no flavor. The "Gulf Fish" on the special Restaurant Week menu was nothing more than a bland plate of fried fish and chips with what could have been frozen hush puppies that were tossed in a microwave with a tiny cup of Sysco ketchup that I could have went to the dive bar around the corner and had better service and food and drinks (cause even the espresso martini was made terribly).
Speaking as a local, this place was a complete waste of time. A total disappointment, underwhelming, and highly recommend you visit the new drive through on St.Claude called Hooks for better quality food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo say this was a disappointing experience would be an understatement. My friends and I recently had a reservation of 9 for brunch on Sunday 5/26. The group were seated at 1250 and the last of the party arrived at 1pm. After sitting for about 15 minutes the waiter walked up to the table and said āIāll be with yall in 2 minutesāā¦The two minutes quickly became 45 minutes and still no service. We spoke to the host (Tae was wonderful!) who proceeded to get waters for the table and the mimosas (as the bottomless is only until 4pm), and said the waiter should be with us shortly. After about another 5 minutes the waiter returned to the table and asked for our IDS (making very awkward small talk about it while checking our birthdays even calling someoneās address off), then he began to pour the mimosas which while doing so very sternly told us not to move the cups even though he was leaking the drink on one of my friends (which I had to go find a cloth to clean up the spill on the table). We finally placed our orders and received one more mimosa refill (and one person never received their drink order of Jack and diet). We sat for about another 20 minutes and received the appetizers (no plates or silverware had been brought to the table), then about 20 more minutes later the waiter returned and stated he lost the ticket with the food orders on it and the food had not been put in. At this point we decided we would no longer be dining here, we requested to speak to the manager about this experience and she never came out to speak to us. This isnāt the first time weāve been to Curio as itās one of the very few places in the French Quarter you can have brunch and mimosas later than 1-2pm, but this experience makes it very improbable of us returning to this establishment. There were also only 2 other tables upstairs with ours (with one already having received their food), so it wasnāt...
