I want to start off with how helpful and accommodating Rob was on the phone when I first called to Inquire about the courses. I had bought a groupon a few years ago but never used it and he told me it was still good to use and even offered me a generous discount on the full course. I'm super grateful he did this for me because I came to learn a lot in this 8 days of training. On my First day I met Diego who is the instructor for the Queens location. At first I wasnt so sure how necessary the full course would be but as he went on with a different lesson each day I realized the amount of information I would have missed out on. Diego is great at teaching and making sure to share the acronyms he used himself to remember the cocktail ingredients. Class doesn't start until everyone arrives so in the meantime he encouraged the early students to go behind the bar and practice the previous lessons. Diego is thorough with his delivery on the days lesson, and if we needed him to demonstrate a cocktail again he didn't hesitate. At the end of the course a test is given in which you'll be making 10 cocktails in 4min. The good thing is Diego tells you which cocktails will be on the test so you have the advantage of practicing your speed beforehand. He gives you the necessary tips and tricks to make sure you pass with flying colors. Over all I learned a lot from taking this course and had a lot of fun doing so too. Thank you Rob and Diego for giving me that extra boost of confidence that I can now apply behind...
Read moreI attended 1800 bartend and had The privilege to learn from a professor named Diego. He broke everything down in to easy steps that made me more comfortable from holding the bottle correctly to counting out my pour. He would teach a lesson in the beginning of class and then break everything down so it would be easier to remember. Diego was so passionate about that he does no matter how many questions we asked he always took the time to answer everything and go over what we needed help on. In one of his lessons he explained that bartending is 25% knowing the ingredients that goes into a cocktail but most importantly 75% of bartending is your personality how you interact with Customers and that stuck to me. Now as I work in a bar I completely understand what he ment by that. If you are thinking about getting into this business look no where else you will not regret taking Diego's class. And when you do take his class take in everything this man says it will come In handy. He teaches you thing that you will actually use while you work he doesnt waste your time teaching things that you will never in counter in a real working environment. Also once a week you will actually go a bar and work which is great because you get experience which you can use when you apply to a bartender position...
Read moreDon’t usually write reviews but I attended this school and it’s different than advertised. Classes say 10-2 but the only day that the class lasted the latest was until 1 on the first day. Lessons are only 10-15 mins long for 3 of the 4 days for the 8 day classes. Which means I only got 6 lessons for $500. I understand the rest was practicing but what was really upsetting was when I had to guest bartend. I told my instructor I was going to be late,8pm, and he said it’s not an issue. I get there and he saids he’s leaving in 15 mins while having a drink at the bar. He just said there was no people at the bar and that he was leaving and kept trying to brush me off saying it was my fault for being late yet he told the class to expect to be there until 12. I had to tell my guest that my gig was cancelled and wasn’t too fond of the way the instructor went about it like it wasn’t his concern anymore since I finished my classes and that he was professional up until that night. The job placement is only a website link they don’t actually send your resume out. I wouldn’t recommend but this was simply my honest opinion just take a look at the owners response to see the way they talk down to my...
