I recently visited 2nd Story Pilates and Yoga through a 2 week unlimited program, and my experience was a bit mixed. While there were definitely positive aspects, there were a few issues that stood out to me.
One of the noticeable drawbacks was the lack of attention to detail regarding equipment. During all of my floor Pilates class, I noticed that the majority of the Pilates balls were not properly inflated, which affected the quality of the exercises. It would have been great if the studio could ensure that all equipment is in good condition before the classes.
Additionally, I found that there were quite a few class cancellations on MindBody, which limited my options for attending classes. This was disappointing since having a variety of classes to choose from is one of the reasons I considering joining the studio. Keep in mind, it seems there are no Friday afternoon/evening classes. I hope the studio can address this issue to provide a more consistent schedule for its members.
On the positive side, majority of the instructors seemed knowledgeable and provided clear instructions throughout the classes. Other instructors, however, seemed disorganized with no set structure, which makes it incredibly hard to follow, often losing track of what to do next. Despite the challenges with equipment and scheduling, the instructors made an effort to create a positive and engaging environment.
One aspect that caught me off guard during one class was the music selection during the class. While music can enhance the overall experience, it was disappointing to hear some advertisements playing in the background. This disrupted the tranquility that is typically associated with yoga and Pilates sessions. To further this, I found that there were classes with late members so hearing the bell ringing and allowing them after class start during your workout was not too relaxing.
In conclusion, my experience at 2nd Story had its ups and downs. While majority of the instructors seemed skilled and dedicated, there were issues with equipment, class cancellations, choice of music, inconsistent level of teaching. I hope that the studio can address these concerns to provide a more consistent and enjoyable experience for its members...
Read moreI've been in and out of yoga for a few years now and I finally decided to sign up for in studio sessions. I love this place so much! It's intimate and the small community we have here is so welcoming. I started off with the beginners program and been going everyday. All the instructors are wonderful and they respond to your every need in a timely manner. They're very punctual so come in at least 10 to 15 minutes before class to get yourself situated. It's very clean and mats and equipment are all provided for. I highly highly recommend this place....
