This was my first experience ever with a Social Worker. My 2 year old was diagnosed with Autism and I was ask in the meeting with the city officials if I wanted a social service to help me cob with the diagnosed and with benefits. It took my service coordinated a while to locate a SW so once she was able to located one I was more than ready to obtain as much as information as possible. The person that was assigned was on vacation but I was told I should hear from her soon via phone call just to make a first call impression. That never happened, This lady contacted me after her vacation was over, which is fine, the issue was that she wanted to go and see me that same day out of no where with out no organization prior. I made her aware that my son is already seeing 3 other teacher and I didn't have room to put her in so last minute. She told me that she was going to contact me the next day to see how my schedule was, in which I explained to her again that I couldn't put her on for that week because I already had all the teacher in Schedule and my son's Dr's appt. She than goes on and tells me that she needed to complete these 2 visit before the month ended or otherwise she can't see me. I told her is not my fault that she was on vacation and I was available to see her but she never contacted me to put her on for that week. That same day I get a call from her upper outline stating that she advised them that she couldn't get a hold of me when we clearly spoke that day and the one before!!!! I should have taken this action as a warning and dismiss her!! But I thought it took so long to find one, I might as well just try to make it work with this one. I gave her a chance. On the first visit she arrived while I was saying my goodbye to the speech teacher, instead of focusing on her duty and first impression she started making conversation with the speech and asking where she was from. The speech teacher was trying to leave and she keep making conversation about their home country and I was standing there. 20 minutes later she done. she told 20 minutes of my time and AGAIN!!! I was like ok maybe she is just friendly. The rest of the session was her talking to me about her son and his diabetes issue and how she is very stubborn because she was very hard with him and didn't accept his diagnosis and now he is a man but he hold some type of grudge against her and blah blah . In my mind I was like ok when is she gonna start talking about my case. I was informed that the social worker would come once a month and she told me it was 2 times a month that when school starts she can only see me in the afternoon. AGAIN, I was like this was not what I was told but I'm gonna try and make it work and put her on schedule. To make long story short. This social work is very stubborn she doesn't take no for an answer and is only her way or the high way. I requested to have her visits reduce to once a month when she got the request like 4 week after it was approved she contacted me at 8:00am it seems to me that was the time she saw the email and just when off on me with a very high tone of voice. I was in between sleep and was caught out of guard.. I just understood she was telling me to get another provider. 2 hours after I texted her.. telling her not to take it personal that it has been hard to put her on schedule and that I was not canceling her just reducing her.. AGAIN!!! here I was trying to work with her person. she did;t even want to speak to me. She had set up a call for a benefit service for my son, when I was call the person ask for her and it when horrible wrong because she gave her information and was link to the case. I contacted her agency and they told me that she was gonna forward me that info she had submitted and I never got nothing. I called them again and they told me that she was to finish that process for me than!! next I get a letter saying that I was declined!! because my social worker Aura Moody!! said I don't want to continue with the process. This person is not professional at all!! horrible person...

My son's was evaluated for speech therapy at the age of 2 from Achieve and Beyond. He would say very little words, maybe the most, 5 words. At the age of 2, he was not even say a 3-5 word sentence. Having 3 children, I noticed his delay and made it known to his pediatrician who submitted a referral to Achieve and Beyond. 2 therapist made a home visit to evaluate only to say that he did not qualify for speech therapy to which I was in utter shock because again, his speech was not at the level for a child at his age. Just last year, we moved to Suffolk County, to an EXCELLENT school district. He is now 4, will be turning 5 in Nov., in Kindergarten and thanks to an amazing teacher, principal, psychologist and staff, he will NOW be getting the services that he needs which is Speech AND Language therapy. Granted at the age of 2, children are still developing skills but, as I said before, having 3 children, it's a no brainer when you see signs when your child is developing delays on their growth. I did more paperwork signing with Achieve then the actual time that my son was evaluated. It's true what they say, you get your taxes worth when you're not dealing with the City. Had Achieve Beyond granted him speech therapy a few years ago and would he had the help he needed back then made a difference from this day present, most likely since that is the profession that they practice. A huge disappointment with my experience with...

Do Not take your Child to this Agency for CPSE evaluation. Psychologists are rude & unprofessional, communication is very poor. All Psychologists I dealt with at this Agency in the past 2 years were rude and looked as if they dislike their jobs. During the evaluations they would talk to me as if all it mattered was their opinion and I had to follow orders (although I was always very polite towards them.) Furthermore, for some reason their Psychologists do not diagnose Autism even if the Child shows all signs of having it (assuming it’s the Agency’s protocol?) They seem very bothered when they have to come to a Parent’s home for an Evaluation and would take their frustrations on the parent. Last time I came to this Agency I was told I needed to wait a whole month just to get an appt with the Psychologist (because I wanted a home appt.) and when the Psychologist finally arrives at my home she starts complaining about a 40mnts parking search and ends up not doing the evaluation due to a misunderstanding created by herself when she scheduled the appt. Now, tell me how...
