All About Glass & Windows Inc — Local services in New York

I am giving this company 3 stars to average out my bad and good experiences with them. THE BAD: I had bad and stressful experiences with one of the customer service agents, who was not helpful and not friendly/understanding in explaining the unpredictable nature of the business (like when things would arrive from suppliers or how long service would take or why pricing was the way it was). In retrospect, I should have just asked to work with another agent from the moment I realized how rude she was, rather than have repeated interactions with her. Secondly, the person who came to estimate the amount of work needed could have recommended more fixes. There are things I realized needed work only after the servicemen finished their work (for example, I realized there were holes in my screens after they removed them and I could clean them. I could have gotten them re-screened if he had taken a closer look and recommended I do so at the initial meeting). THE GOOD: When I asked to speak to the manager (Bruce) after my bad experience with the same customer service agent, he was supremely helpful, patient and apologetic for my experience thus far. He took my suggestions to evaluate that agent seriously and handled the problem. Additionally, the service men were timely, courteous (e.g. asked if they should remove shoes before entering premises), and competent. I have been a long time Harlem resident and suffered immensely from the noise of block and house parties for years. Until I learned about soundproofing solutions offered by the "All About Glass & Windows." I contacted the "All Glass". They came the same week to take measurements and assess the job. "All Glass" offered three types of solutions. I chose to replace my bedroom windows with soundproofed ones. The windows need to be custom-made and it takes about three weeks. The new windows matched the color and the style of the old ones exactly, so there was no issues with the building management. On the day of installation a team of two "All Glass" workers came and did the installation. I was absolutely impressed with the job. It was fast and clean. The new windows fit perfectly. The quality of my life has improved immensely since then. Soundproofing does really work. No noise of garbage tracks at 5am, car alarms, or block parties. I recently moved to another place in the neighborhood and the first call I made was to the "All Glass". I am soundproofing my bedroom right away. And perhaps the whole apartment as soon as I save enough. Services a bit pricy, indeed, but...

I'd like to thank owner Bruce Macin for a great job! The two-man team he sent to my apartment was neat, professional, and attended to details - making sure to re-measure and reconfirm all frames before beginning the removal process. Then, during the work , they gave care to clean as they went (keeping flying dust and dirt to a minimum as one can only reasonably expect is actually possible with this kind of work).

Whilst I could just say everything was "perfect", the truth is, it wasn't. In fact two windows had scratches in the same spot which indicated an error on the production line. Noticing this, the guys called Bruce who immediately said it would be dealt with and three business days later, it was. The same team came back and swapped in new panes. Sometimes the real value of working with someone is found not in the perfect, but in how people manage through what is imperfect. To that end All About Glass came through with flying colors.

I'm now enjoying my easy to open, easy to clean (tilt-in) windows. A welcome replacement to the 30 year old windows that were in my condo previously. The city looks so much more welcoming with nice...
