This hotel is indeed a bit of unconventional as other reviewers commented, I would give it 2 and half star overall. First, in and out, the closest train station is 21st and Queens Bridge, F and E line, 4 stops to Rockefeller center/Time Square. The second closest is Queens Plaza, M and R lines. A word of caution, NYC MTA is not the most reliable among its peers, be prepared to deal with train diversion and disruption, familiar yourself with both stations. Bus Q69 is about 500 ft from the hotel, 3 stops to the nearest station 21st/Qbridge. The area this hotel is located is not exactly touristy, suggest not stay out too late. Second, hotel itself, it is opened in April 2018, the hardware is all new, luxurious at first sight. However, quietness was never an objective when it was built, if you have hard time sleeping, I suggest you look elsewhere. If you insist staying, expect to hear everything, elevator beeps, door closing, car cruising by, and every activity your neighbors are engaging. The bed is quite comfortable, but the mattress has a water proof wrap, guess preventing from staining, it makes funny noise when you move. One we couldn’t get used to is no flat sheet under comforter/quilt, the housekeeping was very glad providing extra bed sheet, so small inconvenience. We asked for better cleaning of the floors, because we don’t wear shoes into the rooms, this request was not met, again, a small inconvenience. The staff is not very well trained in American hospitality, sometimes they just don’t understand your requests or remedy to you complaints, plus a bit language issue, you just have to skip the explaining part and go down to what you want directly. The hotel could do a better job providing directions, however, nowadays, google map or equivalents are much more effective than “map of surrounding areas”, not a big issue. Third, dining, no choices other than fried chicken or some “grade pending” eateries, suggest back with a full stomach. The free breakfast in the morning is a struggle after 8am, the supply is not refilled quickly enough, and the bar table is not laid for accessibility, which makes the “feeding frenzy” look worse than it really is. Fourth, safety, we don’t find it any different from general areas of New York City, apply caution, such as walking along major roads, (21st street), in well lit area, ignore contact from questionable bystanders, ... always be aware of surroundings. Overall, a good overall value choice if you are willing to accept a few getting used to, New York City is known for its diversity, certainly a diversity from main stream, but nothing really particularly bad or unacceptable, at least from my...
Read moreI deserve my money back or some kind of compensation. You pay for a hotel to rest. That is the purpose of a hotel but not for this one. I have written my entire experience here. My partner and I went to this part of Queens for an event and decided to stay at The Nirvana Hotel for convenience to make our lives easier as it is in the area of the event. My partner has an electric bike and was not allowed to keep it in the hotel lobby or room. The parking lot was not offered to keep the bike either. The electric bike was kept leaning on the wall outside of the hotel entrance right in front of the security cameras (despite being allowed to take the bike into previous hotels). A 350$ Worth battery pack from the electric bike was stolen right in viewpoint of security cameras and in sight of the front desk agent as the hotel walls are clear glass. He spoke to the front desk agent to check the cameras for evidence of the robbery. He was denied access to the cameras and was told to ask the manager for the recordings the next day. The time is 3am in the morning, being woken up to a man loudly yelling with demonic tones or drugged out. These sounds were coming from the room next to ours. We called the front desk to interviene. The woman he was with assured the front desk agent her boyfriend and her were having an argument which was a lie. His loud screaming happened about 20 minutes after and this pattern of screaming, banging and being checked on happened three more times throughout the night/morning. His screaming sounds alone were nightmarish to continuously hear. We asked the front desk for a late check out which was an extra hour of sleep. He hesitated then granted it to us. Instead of leaving 11am, we were allowed to leave at 12pm. We were awoken around 9am with loud pounding and the sound of keys, then cleaning ladies barging in. We called the front desk again to ask why is this happening? Was cleaning crew informed of our late stay? The front desk asked us if we informed the ladies of our late stay at that moment they were barging in. My partner slammed the phone, hanging up in rage. About 30 minutes after, the cleaning ladies are banging the door again yelling to check out. At this point, we just wanted to leave. Leaving now, we asked to see the security tapes of stolen property and was told the manager is stoll not in and isn't sure when they will be. Also the 40$ hotel incidental fees was paid in cash but was not returned...
Read moreAfter a long night we checked into this hotel and got up to the 5th floor to our room. We tried the room key and didn't work. I used the floors house phone to ring the front desk after about 2min of tge phone ringing the front desk attendant picked up. I informed him of the issue and he said he would send up someone with a new room key. After waiting 10min no one ever arrived. I went down myself and he asked me with a confused face "no one came up?" And I look at him with the obviously not face if im down here and said "no" I went back up to try the key and to my surprise the key did not work again. I had to go all tge way back down again to let him know and he had to come up and let me in with his master key. After almost 30min we finally got in to room. I told him I had to go back to my car so I would pick up the key new key rob the way back in. I did that and he gave me a key but went up with me to make sure it worked and yet again it didn't. He let me in with his master and said he would have someone come up with a key. In that time I called down to ask for a late check out due to tge inconvenience and he said to call back in the morning and ask. After all that he really told me this NO COURTESY AT ALL. Plus no-one ever came to give the new key that night we got sick of waiting and fell asleep. I called in the morning the next day to ask for the late check out and they refused even after telling them what happened to me the night before. I asked for a manager to speak to and they told me "oh they only come once a week" WHAT? This place is horrible and unprofessional. Its also in a bad neighborhood right in the back of tge project's where crack heads and drug dealers are at night time. Very rough neighborhood so dont be fooled by tge pictures or advertising I grow up in the area and know of the area. Plus this hotel is run by a bunch of Indians with no concept of customer service. They treat people like garbage and dont know the America way of service. NOT THE...
