Nina (hair) and Coco (make up) at Beauty Icon made me feel the most beautiful I have ever felt for my wedding day. I am going to write a detailed description that I wish I could know before my wedding day.
Right from the start, Beauty Icon replied to my inquiry quickly and thoroughly. I wrote out what I wanted, and they sent me an email reply that set expectations clearly and from the start.
I’ll admit, I was nervous about booking hair and makeup before I met with my artists. I do not wear makeup normally, and in the past, I’ve had hair stylists tell me my hair is too soft for my desired look. But my family and friends assured me I should not do my own makeup, so after reading a lot of reviews, I landed on Beauty Icon.
Before I booked, I was able to get on the phone with their owner, Liza. Liza was sweet, patient, and offered me really thoughtful guidance. I opted to do a trial of my hair and makeup to see what direction I wanted for my wedding.
I opted to work with Nina (hair) and Coco (makeup), who were absolutely fabulous! I arrived at the Beauty Icon midtown studio, and both women worked on me so carefully and thoughtfully.
I showed Nina some hair inspiration, and she immediately reassured me that we could achieve my look. I showed Nina some inspiration photos, she asked questions to ensure she understood my vision, and then went to work. She checked in at various points, making sure I was happy with where she put my hair part and she listened to my feedback. The result was absolutely beautiful! My hair stayed in place all day!
I had similar inspiration photos for makeup that I showed Coco, and she also talked me through my vision. When I told her I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis, she asked me really thoughtful questions about how I felt about certain products, like foundation or bronzer. Coco was really gentle on my face, and super thoughtful. Every few swipes during my trial, she asked me to check into a mirror to see what I thought. For example, we used a very light foundation on one half of my face, not the other, and I was able to compare which I preferred. I was able to share my preferences, and Coco listened and took notes.
You can tell that both of these women take such pride in her work.
By the end of my trial, I felt so beautiful, and I felt like the best version of myself. My hair and makeup looked exactly how I envisioned it. I didn’t have much feedback, but the artists answered my questions thoroughly and kindly.
On the morning of my wedding, I was exhausted. I slept on/off maybe 3 hours the night before (no idea why, I didn’t feel nervous but I guess I was!) Nina and Coco both arrived on time to my hotel and their presence helped me to feel at ease. I invited my mom and aunt along with me, and they also got their hair and make up done.
Nina (hair) and Coco (makeup) both consulted my mom and aunt on what their normal routine looks like, what they wanted done. They were treated with such warmth and kindness.
When it was my turn, the artists went to work, referencing the notes they took during my trial. And both the hair and make up turned out perfectly. As beauty is the first thing I had done that morning, it really set the tone for my day.
What’s more- my hair and makeup lasted all day!! My makeup did not crease and was vibrant through the end. My hair stayed in place in the loose waves I loved - despite having a very humid day and outdoor ceremony!
Nina was able to style all of our hair so it would look perfect during our ceremony and photos. Even thought my mom and I had to walk a few blocks from the hotel to our venue.
I am so impressed. I joked with Coco that I should do my makeup more often because I felt so vibrant after she worked on me.
I would love to work with Nina and Coco again for my hair and makeup. I highly, highly recommend these artists and Beauty...

I had been searching for a specific style for what felt like a lifetime. Many vendors were booked, some never got back to me. I fortunately came across Beauty Icon and I was holding my breath hoping they were available… and thank goodness that they were.
I was over the moon happy with the experience I had with the wedding hair and makeup team at Beauty Icon. Liza, who did my bridal look, was nothing short of amazing. Warm, kind, and friendly, she has an incredibly calm nature that instantly put me at ease. As a true expert, her dedication to perfection is unmatched—she does not rest until everything is utterly flawless. Liza runs a fantastic business and makes you feel like you’ve been friends with her for years while you’re sitting in her chair. She provided a sense of peace and grounding every time I was with her. She’s an incredibly special person and practices her true professional calling as an artist and business owner. If you are fortunate to work with her, you are blessed.
Julia, Anna N, and Violetta, the expert artists who worked on my bridal party, ensured that everyone looked absolutely flawless with all of their different looks. They nailed every single look with true professionalism, making each member of the party feel special and beautiful. They emphasized the natural beauty of all of my girls.
Behind the scenes, Oxana and Dasha were amazing. They were always kind, responsive, thorough, patient, and flexible. Their dedication and efficiency made the whole planning process seamless and stress-free.
Everyone at Beauty Icon exemplified true professionalism, kindness, and the best energy of any team I’ve ever seen on a wedding day. If you can work with this team… consider yourself not only in good hands but incredibly lucky. And knowing how lucky you are— always remember to be kind to your team, this is HARD work that they do!! You won’t be...
Read moreI had a very mixed experience with beauty icon NYC. I worked with the makeup/ hair artist Anna B. Although I did love how my hair and makeup turned out for my wedding, I think that the artists and company as a whole need to work on their communication skills.
My wedding was in New Jersey, so of course I knew that I had to cover travel costs and provide a hotel room for the artists. Months before the wedding I found a hotel nearby and I emailed the manager Daryna from Beauty Icon with the details of the hotel asking if it seemed okay before booking. She replied that it was great and I could go ahead and book. Everything seemed fine but the day before the artists were supposed to check in, I got an email from Beauty Icon telling me that the artists actually did not approve of this hotel - and that they had gone ahead and booked another hotel which they were hoping I could cover. I totally understand if they wanted to switch hotels but they should’ve let me know this months ago - not 2 days before my wedding. Luckily, the original hotel was nice enough to refund me for the cost and I of course covered the other hotel.
On the morning of my wedding I made sure that I had everything set for the artists - food, snacks, etc. I tried to do everything I could to be polite and respectful of their time. However, at one point I asked Anna if she could adjust something with my hair and I saw her raise her eyebrows at the other makeup artist. This was honestly super hurtful - especially because your wedding day is a vulnerable day and emotions are running high to begin with. After that I felt like I couldn’t really speak up about anything, I was fighting back tears and just wanted my hair and makeup to be over with.
That being said, I was truly happy with how my hair and makeup looked throughout my wedding. I think that the artists are very talented, I just think that they should reassess how they communicate with...
