In Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen, I was faced with the usual fast food / mediocre breakfast options when I found Angelina's Bakery. It is wasn’t until I had started eating that I realized this was one of those places that seems to effortlessly straddle two worlds – where the time-honored tradition of Italian baking meets a splash of Asian inspiration.
With seating the lower level was occupied I found there was more upstairs in an elevated nook, and it was not crowded when I arrived, so I was able to take a few to enjoy my breakfast croissant over a cup of coffee and also indulge in relishing a couple of bakery donut treats. When I walked in the glass cases acted as a magnifying glass into Tony Park's world, where pastries and croissants rub shoulders with gelato and an assortment of interesting treats guaranteed to prove how dangerous it is to shop when you are hungry.
The strawberry-filled donut is emblematic of Angelina’s subtlety: a filling that doesn’t overpower with richness and a dough that’s as airy as it is flavorful. The breakfast croissant was a perfect combination of fresh made croissant that was light and flavorful on the inside with a very tasty just right crispy croissant outside. I had to also try a powdered donut that looked about as perfect as you could get - and when I tasted where the powdered sugar glazed on the top part of the donut gave it a crisp layer on top of the soft donut inside. I can just imagine what these things must taste like fresh out of an oven. (I was here around 11:30, so it was quiet and I was able to take my time enjoying this breakfast. I was also delighted to find fresh squeezed orange juice that tasted like someone took care to use sweet oranges - no bitter orange peel flavor overpowering it.
I enjoyed my breakfast choices so much I had to write this review and take a look at their website to learn more about it. It was here that I learned about Tony Park’s and you can see for yourself his mastery isn’t merely a business but a lineage – a nod to the family matriarch whose recipes form the backbone of this establishment. I would encourage anybody who ends up in this part of Manhattan to try it out because as amazing as his food looks in the photos, I can assure you they taste even better than they look.
Michelin-starred luminary Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten said it is the best bakery in NYC, and it's easy to see and taste why.
Angelina's provides an expansive menu. Be it pastries or paninis, gelato or pizza, each dish is a chapter in Tony Park’s epic tale of flavors.
I am definitely adding them to my favorites...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Angelina Bakery on 8th Ave, and honestly, the experience left such a lasting impression on me. From the moment I walked through the doors, I could feel the warmth of the place — the smell of fresh pastries in the air, the gentle buzz of happy customers, and the cozy, welcoming vibe instantly made me feel at ease.
What truly made my visit unforgettable, though, was the wonderful service — especially from Kelly. From the very first moment, she greeted me with a bright, genuine smile and an energy that made the whole experience feel extra special. Kelly went out of her way to make me feel welcome, taking her time to walk me through some of the bakery’s specialties and sharing her personal favorites in such a thoughtful, caring way. You could tell she wasn’t just serving customers — she was making connections.
Thanks to Kelly’s fantastic recommendation, I tried the Bombolone, and it was nothing short of incredible. The pastry was light, airy, and filled with just the right amount of sweetness — easily one of the best I’ve ever had. She also suggested pairing it with a cappuccino, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Smooth, rich, and comforting, it was exactly what I needed. Every bite and every sip felt like it was made with real love and attention.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere of Angelina Bakery deserves a mention too. It's stylish yet comfortable, polished but still so inviting — a perfect spot whether you’re looking to grab a quick treat or relax for a while with a coffee and a pastry. It's clear that a lot of care goes into not just the food, but the entire experience.
What stood out the most, however, was the way Kelly made me feel. Her kindness, her patience, and her genuine enthusiasm elevated the visit into something much more memorable than just grabbing a coffee and a pastry. She checked in just the right amount, always making sure everything was perfect, and it never felt rushed or routine — it felt personal.
A huge thank you to Kelly and everyone at Angelina Bakery for creating such a wonderful place and for delivering such a heartfelt experience. In a city where it's easy to feel like just another customer, Angelina Bakery — and especially Kelly — made me feel valued and cared for. I’m already looking forward to coming back soon, and I’ll definitely be telling my friends and family that this is a...
Read moreI came with the intention of trying their Rolly Croissant but, unfortunately, I arrived too late & they were out of them. I had their Pistachio Croissant instead. :sigh: absolutely delicious. Just wish there was a lot more filling 🤭 Unlike myself, my husband doesn't have much of a sweet tooth and doesn't even really enjoy croissants (crazy, I know) - he ate half of my Croissant and took almost all of the Pistachio filling 😂 We also ordered 2 cannolis - Pistachio & a regular. Sadly, we weren't crazy about them. NOT that they weren't good but, we've definitely had better. We also got there at end of their day so we didn't have fresh goodies. 😞 It's a very cute, small spot. They do have an upstairs for more seating, however, it was closed when we went so we got lucky that a family got up to leave and we were able to sit. The staff was so sweet. We would definitely go back and I would love to get there early to try their fresh treats 😁 plus experiment with all those other delicious goodies and cakes that they have. We saw them serve ice cream cones to customers and they decorate it so nicely with a heart shaped waffle wafer. Felt funny asking them for a picture though lol Enjoy the pics and videos and if you try any of those goodies - drop a comment to let me know your thoughts and/or...
