I had a horrible experience travelling with Bestbus and was extremely annoyed that they did nothing to make up for it and in fact claimed I was lying.
I had to travel from DC to NY from Union Station and had work the next day. The last 5 of us standing in line were told that they had overbooked the bus and they had asked another driver to come so that they could send 2 buses instead but that driver didn't show up. So they told the 5 of us that we should call Bestbus and we would get a refund on this. I had to get another bus at another station but couldn't do anything else at the time since the bus was actually filled to the brim (including the seats just behind the driver).
I tried calling on ALL possible numbers and at different times (including during business hours) but the same message played each time (that they were currently busy). It's pretty clear that they don't actually have a functional line.
Hence, I decided to send an email explaining the situation. I got the most frustrating response to that as not only did they not offer me a refund (saying it was a non-refundable ticket) they also claimed I was lying. They said they checked with their staff there and they had 'plenty of room' on the bus and they had 'misinformed me'. I was shocked and wished I had made a video of the situation on the bus, and what their driver said and how he told us we would get a refund. It just seemed like this couldn't even be an issue and there was no way they wouldn't make up for their fault. Although they mentioned that I could have been misinformed by their staff they still didn't make up for it.
Not only this, it was a $45 ticket. I have been long-distancing for a while. At the start of the pandemic the prices were doubled as they accommdated half the people to allow for social distancing. However, now there is no social distancing (in fact it is way overbooked) and they still maintain their escalated rates and they wouldn't own up to their fault and give refunds!
Lesson: If you all want to reach your destinations on time please make sure that you don't book with them or if you do and face such an issue please make sure you videotape each and everything since they will claim you're lying so that they don't have...
Read moreI’ve been riding Best Bus for over two years now and their honestly a reliable and good company. They are on time and have good buses. But I’m writing this review because one of the drivers (round with a bald head), has an odd problem with phones. I’ve actually seen this twice now. The first time I thought it was a fluke, but the second time I realized the bus driver has an issue. Both times, the bus driver stopped and pulled the bus over on the highway suddenly. He gets up and proceeds to yell at everyone because of the people talking on “speaker phone”. Mind you , people may be talking on the phone but they are not “overly loud”. Just regular conversation. I’m ok with him telling people to stop talking, but the manner in which he suddenly stops the bus and gets up and yells at everyone was weird. He did that twice. Both times I rode the bus and this particular bus driver did this, it was over very low noise (neither was me). He then threatened to pull over at the rest stop and call state police. He threatened state police over someone talking on speaker phone 🙄. If he was a normal bus driver, he could have just said it while driving , or he could have given a warning. There is absolutely no warning. And the first time, he let people talk on the phone for a whole hour and then abruptly stopped the bus and told everyone to be quiet. The behavior is just weird and antisocial. The bus driver should be told how to handle this situation more properly . Outside of this bus driver, never had a problem...
Read morePossibly the Worst Trip I've Ever Taken I was on the 6:30PM bus from DC to NY. The bus was over one hour late for no reason I could think of. When I attempted to contact BestBus' customer service phone number it no one picked up and I was not even given the chance to leave a message. This alone is absolutely unacceptable. When the bus did arrive I found the inside of the bus to be laden with trash of all sorts and the bus had a rather dank odor.
On the bus I found a persons wallet complete with credit card, ID , and other personal affects. When the bus stopped at DC Union Station I reported it to the bus driver and supervisor, a certain Mr. Frasier. To my surprise and shock he proceeded to rifle through the wallet and attempted to pocket the credit card. When I saw him do this he accused me of being a racist and acting like a police officer; insisting that he always did his job correctly. Rather than confront his animal like behavior I had returned to my seat on the bus. After this unfortunate episode the owner of the wallet came and collected it shortly before the bus departed for NY. Had she not came so soon I'm afraid the wallet and its contents would be the personal property of Mr. Frasier.
If you're doing your job responsibly you wouldn't have to scream about it to your customers. I would suggest to BestBus to sack this supervisor.
To top this off the usual five hour journey took seven hours.
Absolutely...
