I was hesitant to share my awful experience at this establishment because Stephanie, was an overall pleasant person but the level of professionalism was totally lost for me. I was scheduled for an 11am appointment on 2/18/2025 after a brief discussion the prior day. I explained that I just cut my locks off down to the root, so I have very little hair left and I was interested in having it colored honey blonde with some kind of shaping. I arrived the next day at my scheduled appointment to find someone else in her chair and then I also realized I forgot She told me I needed to bring the color on my own. This also annoyed me because I guess I misunderstood that detail because I wouldn’t have agreed to that. I had to call for advice on what to buy because I have no knowledge of hair coloring. She gave a suggestion as well as told me to buy two, only to discover upon looking at my hair that I only needed one. So that was money wasted on an unnecessary bottle. Then when She put it in, I know now that She left it in too long because I recall her asking me as well as giving me a mirror so I can look and tell her when I wanted to take it out, this was told to me after She noticed me looking curiously into the mirror because I felt it was in a long time but She was now tending to the client that was in her chair when I arrived, so I was being patient as well as I assumed She knew when it should come out. I was not aware I needed to watch and see for myself. The end results was a fiery orange look roots and all, as well as She now informed me the guy who cuts is not available that day and it was now approaching 2pm when my $70 parking 😞 was up. So She pretty much told me I didn’t have enough time to wait for her to serve the other client as well as do something decent to my lil bit of hair now that it was colored. So I left the Salon after paying an $88 bill with the same scarf and even more hair depression than when I came in. I don’t think She understood how much I was relying on her to guide and advise me on a cute or at least decent style for my short hair. I researched this place and traveled far believing I would get the individual advice, care, and concern for my hair as a newbie on a new extremely short hair journey but I was sadly disappointed and unhappy with the results and the next day was my birthday 🥹 I’m still so unhappy with my hair and oh, I also had to pay a barber $25 after that visit to get a shape up so I could look like something for my birthday. I’m still in desperate need to find a suitable salon to commit to and now I have trust issues after my...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst customer service and experience I've ever had at a hair salon.
I called earlier in the day and made an appointment for 3 p.m. I asked for the latest appointment in the day because I had to work that day. Oren (sp? the owner) told me that it wasn't an issue and I would be scheduled to get my locs maintained by Emmanuel. I arrived about 15 minutes before my appointment was going to start and Emmanuel was still working on another client. He told me he would be finished in 10 minutes and would start on my hair.
A few minutes later, Oren came to speak with Emmanuel. I couldn't exactly hear what the conversation was about, but at a certain point Oren started raising his voice and he walked very close to Emmanuel in a threatening angry manner. Emmanuel maintained his cool the entire time, but I was very surprised that something like this was happening while clients were in the shop.
Oren walks away to the back of the shop and another person comes up to me to tell me that he would be working on my locs until my loctician arrived. I pointed toward Emmanuel and said to this new person that my locitican was already here. He seemed a bit confused, and he said "Oh" almost as though he had no idea what I was talking about. He then says, "Well I'll wash your hair until your loctician is ready." I tell him that I'd prefer to wait for Emmanuel and have only one person working on my hair.
Moments later while I'm still speaking with the new attendant, Oren storms over from the back of the store and starts to yell at me. At this point, I'm confused as Oren berated me for coming late to my appointment and for making demands. He tells me that I must let the new attendant do my hair or I can get out. All in a raised voice. I was so scared by this reception that I told Oren that I would go for now, since it seems as though things are a bit tense and I'd call him to reschedule.
This infuriates Oren even more and he demands that I let the new attendant do my hair or else get out and never come back. I start to pack up my stuff as he's standing over me yelling at me to leave.
All this while no one at the shop says a word. A room filled with men of color and they just watch the owner go ballistic on me for no reason and the silence was deafening. I leave right away and do everything in my power to hold back my tears until I turn the corner on 9th and 34th. For shame,...
Read moreI pass by the 34th street and 9th Avenue salon to get a wash, cut and retwist. I called the phone number displayed on the outside of building. I spoke to a gentleman and scheduled an appointment two weeks prior. I told the gentleman that I had only the top of my head locked and that I needed the sides cut (faded). I was outside of the salons window on the sidewalk.. During our phone call I told the stylist to look out of the window while I waved so that he could see me. I took off my hat to show him what I was working with. He acknowledged me through the window by waving. I asked how much would it be to retwist, style, wash and cut all included he said $75. So after my hair is done I passed the stylist $75 and was about to give him a tip when he told me I was short and that the amount due was $115 plus tax. I told him the agreement that was discussed with the person over the phone was $75, he says he wasn't the one I spoke to over the phone. He called me a liar said that conversation was impossible to have because the person I spoke to would have never said such a thing. He then yelled/ over talked me asking me to pay the remainder with zelle or apple pay, I immediately left the salon. I love to support blk businesses but this one I will never return. I was disrespected and humiliated in from of other clients. Beware the transparency it isn't clear at this establishment. This place lost a valued customer I dont usually write reviews but this needs to be addressed. I was truly hurt by the stylist aggressive manorism. A word of advice without customers you have no business, treat people how you would want to be treated with...
