I don't know how there are so many five-star reviews. One person said the workers are lazy but that's an understatement. The selection for NHL stuff is terrible, so we asked them to letter up a popular players name n digits onto a jersey. Returned back to home city only to find the job was atrocious. Lettering crooked. Numbers completely off center. Even the shoulder numbers were falling off, not double checked or well glued/obviously not stitched but what do you expect. Simply put the jersey was crap and not wearable.. especially considering the enormous cost for a low quality fanatics jersey.
It took something like 2 months of pestering at them over the phone for one of these rude managers to admit the worker was at fault (at this point, I stopped thinking that the employee was inept and I had become more annoyed with the supervisors, the managers and even the supposed ownership of the store.) they finally admitted that the ownership is a joint venture between lids" hat store and fanatics (evil Florida based company, which has a lot of complaints against them..... And who's headquarters do not want to deal with any consumer complaints just.... Just try to pass on the buck) .
After 2 months of pestering these people, define I agree to let me take the Jersey to a lids store. They haven't had me feeling like I was being too picky and bothersome. But right when I walked into the lids store, the employee said "wow, could they have done a worse job?" That completely validate my thought process to the point the I began to hate both of Fanatics with a passion. Went online and read a million complaints about their jerseys , quality, consumer relations.
When they finally got the Jersey shipped to them, they did reimburse me via credit card for my purchase. But, consider that I lost quite a bit in the actual cost originally paid and also the time and effort required. Sorry pretty much paid several dollars to not end up with the item I really wanted. When I think back on this, 1) I don't even want to buy sports merchandise anymore because this experience was so bad, especially an expensive player jersey , 2) I have a much more wary of a so called official NHL store... Headquartered in the biggest city 3) I can now understand why people buy fake items for 1/10 of the price , counterfeited in China , when there is online support and delivery and 4) I definitely realize that this is a bit of a tourist trap. They know someone's going to buy something and then leave New York and be screwed and not be able to find any sort of recourse. After all the time and effort required and even the money lost in the refund, looking back on this in retrospect, it seems to me it would have been the right thing for them to at least give me some sort of gift card or item as a sort of Sorry. But I didn't get that. All I got was a very lengthy process to fight for my refund.. and the realization I should never buy from the NHL shop or online from fanatics ever again.

Read moreUpdating my review for the new location with new photos. The new NHL Shop is probably about the same size or larger than the previous location on 6th Ave (circa 2020). They have a variety of replica Fanatics jerseys and authentic Adidas primegreen jerseys. You can customize any blank jersey in-store but itâs $70 and the lettering/numbers are heat-pressed, not sewn on (which is disappointing, to be honest). Other items available include the usual caps, hoodies, t-shirts and from â47 Brand and Fanatics. Iâm not impressed by the quality of Fanatics apparel, especially for the price. The store remains great though, with knowledgeable staff, fitting rooms and some historic jerseys and autographed memorabilia on display upstairs. Thereâs more availability in terms of specific player jerseys online, though.
The 6th Avenue location is closed â for good, not temporarily. The NHL Store is relocating to the NHLâs new office on 33rd St. at Hudson Yards. According to newly-placed (July 2021) signage, the new retail shop will open in autumn 2021 at 400 W 33rd St.
Before it closed, the store itself was terrific â a huge selection of authentic and replica jerseys, the ability to customize the jersey of your choice in-store and a variety of apparel and gifts. Itâs not necessarily affordable but thereâs plenty to shop for. There was always a rack or two of sale items as well (special event-branded jerseys, traded players, etc) which is nice to...
Read more5 stars for the employees and customer service. The team at this store is exceptional! They were super friendly and very knowledgeable. They really made being in the store and enjoyable experience. Leaving a 3 star review because unfortunately the store inventory was very disappointing. Poor and inconsistent selection of jerseys and merchandise. Next to none when it comes to kids and womenâs selection. Unless youâre a local fan, options for teams were very minimal in menâs, few sizing options, and even out of stock on the letters for custom printing. Really, really bummed there werenât any exclusive releases. It would have been great to order online and pick up same-day in store but the option isnât available and the merchandise definitely wasnât available. For a flagship, I expect much more and I hope Fanatics starts taking their retail opportunity more seriously. Thanks again to the stellar team at the store for their excellent customer service and...
