Went for both a haircut and beard trim a few hours ago. I have also previously gone here, but refrained from writing a review until I could see the performance a few times, in order to make the review a proper one.

First, the haircut was, and I can state this with confidence, the best that I have ever gotten. Mark asked questions prior to beginning the cut so that he could properly ascertain my preferences, and it only took him a few short questions to completely understand something that I had admittedly been trying in vain to explain to previous barbers for as long as I can remember.

Second, the beard trim began as the aforementioned did, with a few short questions, and the result was exceptional. I have to maintain a properly trimmed beard because I work in a professional setting, and I strongly believe that I now have a professional look that I can confidently embrace. Most importantly, both sides of my face are even, a point Mark really stresses, and which, surprisingly, is often overlooked elsewhere.

Lastly, the service was remarkable. The shop only uses top quality products which are in line with both the ever-progressing field of health standards and consumer well-being. For example, the aftershave lotion contained no alcohol, a point which Mark himself expressed. I won't regurgitate a litany of products and chemical additives, but you can rest assured that what is used here is superb.

Glad that I finally found a place I can relax in and not worry about how I appear afterwards, because I know that my appearance is assured to improve. The conclusion meets expectations, the price is wonderful, and the service is...

Blades & Cuts is the only place you should be getting a haircut if you're on the upper east side! They really are a neighborhood establishment & make you feel right at home.

Mark & the team are truly masters of their craft. I have had many people in my life cut my hair & really struggled to find a place I was happy with when I first moved to UES. To this day I have only been happy with two people who have cut my hair. My hair stylist back home in California & Sam who I regularly book with at blades and cuts. Sam shapes me up perfect every time with out fail. The first time I came in I didn't know how explain what I wanted so I showed him a picture and he got it exactly right (3 blended up for those wondering).

You will not find a better place to get a hair cut on the UES than blades & cuts I promise. The price, the quality of the cut, & how I am treated as a customer is unmatched. I am greeted as if I have been a regular for multiple years (probably have been going for a year now). They do a great job of getting to know everyone who comes in and having conversations with them. At the same time if you're some one like me who is little more quiet and likes hair cuts in silence they make me feel comfortable doing just that. They are all friendly people that put the best effort in their work & are awesome to get to know.

I am 64 years old and always got my haircut at the best hair salons in Birmingham, Alabama, where I lived, NEVER a barbershop. Then, in 2017, I moved to New York City. After about 6 weeks of living here I was desperate for a haircut but did not know where to get one. One day, while walking down 1st Avenue in the upper east side, I can upon the Blades and Cuts barbershop. The shop was busy that day but everyone seemed to be coming out with great haircuts. A barber? I took a deep breath and walked in. Mark cut my hair that day and it was the best haircut that I had ever had. He really understood how to cut my hair and what would look good good on me. Since then, I have never gone anywhere else. I always get a great looking cut, and now take my grandson for his haircuts.
