Credit card fraud
Did I get your attention? - By living in New York you experience lots of things both good and bad. I never thought that after 14 plus years living here I would have to add credit card fraud by a restaurant to the list of my experiences. Especially since I love Numero 28 and have been there many times. We went to this place for dinner on 2/5/2022 (3 of us) and we split the check. Since we realized that one card was charged for only a tip we pointed this to the waiter as this would make the restaurant at a loss. He understood the mistake and charged my friends card for additional fee. We left, the total for each card was 53 dollars (including the tip). Two of us realized that the next day the charge on our cards increased to 75 dollars. It is unclear to me how this is possible as the 53 dollars was an electronic charge that I signed myself. I called the restaurant and talked to the same waiter. After explaining to him that he has overcharged us he became rude and stated that me and my friends ran out of the restaurant trying to cheat them (after we came to him initially pointing to the fact that he has charged less) and because he couldn't charge the 3rd card he charged the other 2 subsequently for the loss. When I explained to him that this is illegal and would constitute credit card fraud he became aggressive. I asked to speak to the manager but alas the manager was not there that night (or so I was told). I also asked for the waiter's name as I was ready to report him, after which he hung up on me. I contacted my bank and was able to retrieve the extra charge, but this was one of the most unpleasant experiences ever. If the manager wants to speak to me I am more than happy to do so and to update...

During my recent visit, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional leadership of Manager Alessandro and the culinary expertise of Chef, who hails from Sardinia. Manager Alessandro's warm welcome set the tone for the evening, ensuring every detail of our dining experience was meticulously attended to. Meanwhile, Chef's Sardinian heritage shone through in each dish, offering a delightful fusion of Italian flavors. The standout dish of the evening was the Fagottini, delicate pasta parcels filled with a tantalizing combination of ingredients. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, perfectly capturing the essence of Sardinian cuisine. The entire staff, with their dedication and professionalism, contributed to the seamless flow of the evening. From the attentive servers to the kitchen staff, everyone played their part in ensuring a memorable dining experience. Read moreThis is a great neighborhood place that is totally worthwhile stopping by when visiting the UES ... and if desperate for good tacos would totally crosstown for it.
What I've had ...
Ceasar Salad with Chicken ... pretty good salad. the dressing was really good. However, the chicken was somewhat dry and too much for a sale topping. Will definitely be ordering again, but no chicken next time.
Tagliolini ala Bolognese ... amazing, home made tasting pasta and sauce. While I normally come for the pizza, the pasta is also an incredibly good option.
Pizza San Daniele ... awesome choice!!! I love the dough from this place. It's thin yet crispy and perfectly balanced with the toppings. This applies of course to other pizza reviews I have.
Pizza Capricciosa ... another great choice!!! Nothing else to comment other than it's must try.
Service is really good. It's really like being in a warm, friendly, family restaurant. All servers and host(esses) make you feel very welcome and have always been incredibly attentive.
Ambiance ... not fancy, but a good neighborhood feel. The indoors is a bit dark for my taste, but now that they have the outdoor set up it's...
