Blooms by April — Local services in New York

I was looking for wedding florals and came across Blooms by April. As florals are a big part of any wedding, I had a lot of questions and inquiries about what to expect (including feedback on certain things I did not like/wasn’t sure about) before committing to the vendor.

I worked with Jean who came off as rude in the emails from the start with their tone. Asking me what my “actual” budget is, insisting their pricing is cheap, and finally rushing me to make a decision noting another client is inquiring about the date I had requested (this is all a turnaround of about 3-4 days). I was already wary of the tone of the vendor as I had read similar reviews regarding their customer service on Yelp.

Jean provided a very basic breakout of what the pricing would be (grouping together the cost of certain items so that it was unclear and I had to inquire). There was no additional materials or moodboards to provide context other than the back and forth with my questions driving the conversation.

After my final round of feedback and questions about what was possible, Jean told me that my style didn’t match theirs and they would no longer work with me.

Overall, I think while this may be a cost efficient vendor, beware that the customer service is quite terrible to what you’ll find elsewhere. I’ve never seen a vendor with such terrible tone.

I debated posting this review, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how disappointed I was with the two arrangements I received for the price I paid ($326.62 total).

I left the request for the arrangements open-ended, since this was for a dinner party in upstate NY. I shared with Jean an inspiration photo based on what my friend previously ordered from here. She gave me a quote of $150 per arrangement (before tax) based on this photo.

The arrangements I received were barebones compared to the inspiration photo AND similarly priced arrangements posted on her website. It was really disappointing to feel ripped off and receive arrangements that looked more filler leaves than actual flowers.
