Wonderful location for a beginner park. As my first time being here it was easy to find. Best bet is to take the b48 bus as it drops you in front of the park. There also exists a pool so be aware that you aren't on the long pool line hahaha!
There are two entrances to the skate park. On Lorimer itself where the b48 drops you or you can opt for the block on Bayard St. This side leads in from the back of the quarter. There is a small fountain here. However, I suggest bringing some Gatorade or lemon water to keep adequately hydrated.
It's a beginner level park and so you'll see kids to adults here. I suggest warming up and stretching adequately from 10-20 minutes and doing some stalls of your tricks planned for the day. It gets crowded during the week so a Saturday might be best.
The quarters are not joined to anything so if you catch air just be careful not to project yourself over the quarter as you'll meet a very harsh and not well paved concrete.
The two entrances beside the quarter for a beginner are to warm up as well as exit the park on the Bayard St side. Great for practicing going fakie or pumping. There are a total of two manual boxes 4 mini rails. 2 big rails beside the stairs. A triangle and a landing square in the middle of the park.
Wear a helmet if you plan on doing tricks that require big air. The concrete IS paved and hurts even with knee pads. Wear recommendations, you can go without a shirt but I don't recommend it. Jean shorts or jeans pants hold up better than basketball shorts.
For inline skaters: you don't need wax,ABEC 9 BEARINGS are super fast on this pavement so going slow as a warm-up is recommended.

3 stars ⭐️ - The poor rating is due to this one specific ramp that I think should be revamped by an engineer due to wear-and-tear. (Observe photo) I am sure others were able to succeed on their decline down the ramp but there just seemed to be an uneven, spot on it for me. Plus the exit off that ramp felt like a very sharp decline into the ground opposed to a roll off from the ramp to the ground. I thought it was just me, but one of the skateboarders told me not many people use that side of the ramp. As a result, I got a nice busted lip and a dented chain from the other ramp. At least, the first fall was just due to error so shame on me. Overall, it is a late beginner and...
Read moreRad mid-sized park with something for almost everyone. A lot of solid rails, boxes, hubbas, a couple quarter pipes, hip, and a fun mini euro. The pole jam and middle pyramid offer ways to get creative. The flatbar is perfect if you need to learn a new rail trick. One of the best skatepark handrails in the city, in my opinion. There’s not a lot of flow or transition skating—it seems like ramp lovers hang out at Cooper nearby. McCarren can get crowded on the weekend like most NYC parks, but that’s just part...
