Very disappointing experience. I've been going to Club Pilates for a few months, but my home studio is in California where I first started classes with this franchise. I absolutely loved the classes in California and was excited to return back to Staten Island and finally have a workout class I enjoyed. Little did I know this would not be the case. If I hadn't started in California and known what a real Pilates class should be like I wouldn't have maybe realized how poor the classes are here, but having something to compare it to the instructors here are unfortunately not trained adequately and in my opinion just don't have the investment into Pilates to format a true Pilates workout. The facility is clean and the desk staff and instructors are nice, but for how expensive Pilates is this location is not up to standard by any means. My first class at this location the instructor came 5 minutes late, which is just again unacceptable for the price that this costs. Secondly, in this same first class I noticed that a lot of the movements we did were just not thought through and I felt like had a large load on the lower back (and trust me I was engaging my core- I am young and very fit, so it had nothing to do with improper form). This was concerning to me seeing that I noticed a large age group range and I felt like considering I was on the younger end that this was problematic. Nonetheless, I have an unlimited plan and figured I just had a bad first experience and maybe the instructor wasn't my style, but 5 classes later with 5 completely different instructors I leave with similar feelings. The only instructor that was half decent in my opinion was Carissa. But overall everyday I came hoping for a better experience and was disappointed. I left everyday feeling like I hadn't gotten a workout other than maybe some core, but none of the instructors worked on footwork on the machine or really anything to do with arms or legs. Most classes I felt we did weird positions and exercises that had no muscle group focus and just left me questioning what the hell we were doing. And again, I've taken classes through Club Pilates and have an unlimited account so I've been to multiple other instructors and classes where we have done a range of exercises and I have never had any class as disappointing as the ones I had here. In addition, it is very difficult to get into classes at this location, there are super long waitlists if you don't book out 2-3 weeks in advance, but then in multiple of my classes we had multiple (3-7) empty reformers. I write this long review because I feel like for anyone new to Pilates you wouldn't have any expectation to know that this is not how a true class should be and for anyone with injuries I don't recommend because the instructors are clueless and have no idea what they are talking about regarding proper positioning. Overall, super disappointing because I've been an avid Club Pilates goer and it was extremely sad that this location just flat out sucks. They have a 30 day cancellation policy, which I was aware of. I was going to try to come to at least a few classes per week till my membership runs up since I pay for it, but I left my last class having wanted to walk out midway through because it was just so poorly planned and frustrating. Anyways, for anyone reading this try elsewhere this isn't worth what...
Read moreHorrible experience - do not recommend. Never having done Pilates before, I signed up at level one. I paid $250 for 8 classes a month and I couldn't book a class because they were all full and the waitlist is often over 7 people and I was outright told if the waitlist is over 4, don't bother because you won't get in. They offer very limit level one classes and some days, the classes are during 9-5 work hours so it's not even an option I could choose. I tried to cancel after my first month because I literally couldn't get into a class and I was told I'd have to adhere to the 3 month mandatory commitment as per the contract even though I was literally explaining that I can't get into a class. One of the receptionists told me to call when I can't get into a class and she will get me in. I said "Doesn't that mean someone else will be kicked out? I can't do that to someone" and she said, "Don't worry about it. It's not your problem, it's not like they'll know it was you". I then tried to explain via email that calling every time I need to book a class is an inconvenience. I'm incredibly busy and everything I said above PLUS having to call for every booking is too much. I was told I could cancel my membership early for $100 fee and when I said I wasn't willing to do that, they stopped answering my emails until I followed up with how disappointed I was. I ended up telling them to drop me to the lowest membership because I wasn't willing to spend $250 for the next two months and I said please email me back to confirm the change, which they did. I waited out the mandatory two months I had left, and emailed them to cancel my membership over two weeks before being charged for month 4, and they said no, you need to cancel 30 days in advance so you will be charged for the 4th month. Mind you, I had a month and a half worth of credits still because I wasn't able to get into classes even checking as far as 3 weeks in advance. I had to call my bank and send them all the emails, which also show the company stopped responding to me after telling me they wouldn't cancel my membership. It's such a shame because I liked the workout overall and I have nothing negative to say about the instructors,...
Read moreStay Away from this Club Pilates!!! They are disorganized, unprofessional, and just blame everything on their billing system at corporate! They just tell your”they are going to work with you” when you ask to cancel your membership” My experience was that their system had an problem with my account. First they told me it was for an outstanding balance at a previous club Pilates. That was not the issue. During Covid when the gym was closed they were still billing me and I called my bank and I stopped the billing. They called and apologized for that. I then joined again in late April.(should have never given them another shot)They took my money and then told me that there was a billing issue from the past and locked me out of the account. They charged me for 2 months and because of their poor billing practices I was not able to book any classes . They charged me for services they could not provide due to their billing system. I asked for my membership to be canceled and refund my They blamed corporate and the owner and told me they had no control over it but would work with me to resolve the issue. So I was being charged for service that I was not able to use because of their problem in their system. Of course they charged me for the third month as well. However I called my bank again and Disputed the charges. It took Club Pilates 50 days to resolve their billing error. Why would I pay for a service they could not provide? . At this point who even wants to do business with them? This is just plain dishonest and horrible. Stay away from this club Pilates they know nothing about how to treat their Imembers and they’re all about just gething your money. I know people who have joined other Club Pilates and they are very happy. Each Club Pilates is an individually owned franchise.. So if you like doing Pilates please do yourself a favor and join a different Club Pilates.
And club Pilates don’t even bother responding because you’re all doing whatever the owner tells you to do, which is a lie to your members and take their...
