Completely agree with some bad reviews. I was skeptical at the negative reviews at the first place since my friend had no complaints during her last visit. I travelled the entire day just for a collection of a certificate and yet the service was even worse than what they can offer back in Malaysia! The guy with the American accent wasn't helpful at all and took his own sweet time in responding to my case. Although the collection hours were stated from 2 to 4pm, he claimed that the person-in-charge was out for lunch until 3:15pm. I waited patiently even though there was zero walk-ins this afternoon. When the PIC was back, he requested for additional print-outs and photocopies despite I already prepared all documents as stated on the website. Since the collection hour will be done by 4pm, I rushed to Staples nearby to fulfill his request and made it back in time by 3:40pm. Took them 15 minutes to sign a letter and got everything sorted 5 minutes before 4.
I can't agree more with some reviews that their attitude is still pretty much kampung-style even though they are based in Manhattan. If they were proactive and responsive enough, the American accent guy should've at least check my documents while having me to wait for the PIC. Shame on this and I hope they...
Read moreProfessional and attentive staff. I visited NYC to renew my passport and was surprised to find that on the day of my visit to the consulate, I was very kindly and professionally informed that the system was down and that it could possibly warrant a revisit the following day. Fortunately, the staff that day were very pleasant to all who were at the consulate by remaining calm and not dismissing any questions I had. Moreover, the staff at hand presented us with the option of waiting in hopes that the system will be fixed or to call back later in the day to see if the system was functional. I chose to call back later and explore more of the city. Fortunately, the system was functional for the following day. Eventually, our new passports were handed back to us within the hour saving us having to return to the consulate. I gave it a 4 star because the interior is in need of a renovation. It reminds me of a JPJ back home but much more efficient. Additionally, the ketupats hanging on the pillars looked from yesteryears. PS special thanks to Juraidah for your kind and...
Read moreVery Bad Attitude Towards Customers. I applied for a multiple entry visa and was given only single entry visa. When I called them about the same, the guy on the phone was so rude that he was not ready to listen. As I spoke few words, he rudely broke me between the words and asked " What do you want?". I was shocked, and explained him again. He asked if I had submitted the multiple entry travel tickets and I said I submitted only single entry tickets. He told that's why I didn't get multiple entry visa. I asked him if I was informed about this before granting my visa, as I've requested for it. He answered in a bored and irritated voice that they wouldn't inform any such things. They should at least let me know if I missed any documents. If not anything, at least there is a way to talk to people. Based in Manhattan, I didn't expect the Malaysian Consulate services to be so bad. Please teach your staff how to talk to people. You guys seem to care less despite many complaints...
