I visited Dr. Lee's Clinic towards the end of this spring with a rather severe reaction to the seasonal allergy. I'd been suffering from seasonal allergy ever since I moved to the city in 2010. The usual symptoms of constant sneezing, watery/itchy eyes, nasal congestion; I had it all. Every spring and fall. It was more or less bearable and treatable with over-the-counter allergy medicine, but for some reason, it really kicked up a notch this year. I had to do something drastic about it and acupuncture was something I was willing to try.
Even though I am from Asia, I'd never been a big fan of alternative medicine and, not to mention, any procedure involving sharp needles. So... i walked in with a bit of skepticism and fear, but i was pretty desperate at that stage.
My procedure started with a consultation followed by some acupuncture around my face and legs. According to Dr. Lee, the goal of acupuncture was to bring down the heat accumulated around the upper half of the body and hence reducing the sensitivity towards the allergens. Anyways... the acupuncture portion of the treatment was not painless, but at the same time bearable. It took about 30-40 min total.
Dr. Lee also noted before the treatment that I may suffer from a light flu-like symptoms and i did for 1-2 days almost immediately following the treatment. Cold sweats and chills. I was also prescribed with a month-long, twice a day herbal medicine regimen and I bear through it all. Herbal medicine came in a liquid form in a small pouch sized sealed pack and it's a bit of an acquired taste kinda thing. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the taste but again I wanted to get better.
As for the results, my typical allergy symptoms, especially the severe congestion, went away rather quickly within a few days of the treatment. I want to believe that it was entirely due to the treatment, but at the same time, we were approaching the end of spring... so I will leave that up to whoever is reading this to decide. What i can say for sure is that I certainly felt better soon after the initial treatment.
Here's what really surprised me though and what prompted me to write this review. I am also allergic to dog and cat dander and i just came back from a 3 day trip with a family who brought their cats with no knowledge of my condition. After a long weekend with 2 cats, I can honestly report that i almost had no reaction throughout the trip and I wonder if Dr.Lee's treatment had some parallel effects on my other allergies. I am now genuinely excited to see how my body reacts to allergens this coming fall. i am quite optimistic.
Dr.Lee and his staff (masseuse) were very professional and they made me feel at ease throughout the treatment.
It takes extra commitment to try something different, but I would highly recommend any allergy patient to try acupuncture treatment at...
Read moreI don’t usually have time to write or post reviews, but the results of Dr. Lee's TCM herbs and acupuncture treatment for my potential ovarian cancer are extraordinarily successful and I want people to know they have options with doctors like him.
I've had a simple pelvic cyst for over 10 yrs; characterized as benign, but it started causing me pain in early 2021, and changes in images prompted my gynecologist to prescribe invasive tests and preemptive surgery for ovarian cancer. That treatment path wasn’t my first choice, so having studied TCM herbs earlier in life, I researched and found reviews of Dr Lee where I could see he is the real deal. I visited him, asked him about his experience and history, showed him the ultrasound reports and asked how he had treated women with similar situations before, what the outcomes were and what he thought the possibilities were for me. He took his time considering my situation and gave me sincere answers, and I realized pursuing treatment through him with his high quality TCM herbs was my best choice. He gently persuaded me to try acupuncture as well. I did as he suggested for a couple of months. The next scans did not show improvement, but no worsening of conditions and I knew from experience these things take time.
I did the same treatment plan for another month, after which scans showed the cyst now 35% smaller, characterised as 'simple' rather than complex, no hardened suspect nodule, no ‘dangerous’ septation or echogenics; all the characteristics that made the doctor want to treat this as a cancerous condition. This was such a dramatic improvement that my gyn did not even call me for 10 days; I had to call her. Previously she had called me immediately with every scan, urging me to have surgery. When I spoke to her, she really didn’t know what to think or even say - I realized this type of improvement and healing is outside the box where she practices.
I cannot say enough about what a difference in my life Dr Lee’s treatment has made. I did not want to go through surgery, invasive tests, radiation or chemo as followup treatment etc. It seems like a miracle to me and I am forever grateful for Dr. Lee's kindness, experience, confidence, knowledge, skill and practicality. I couldn’t recommend anyone more...
Read moreI don’t even know where to start when I think about how to sum up how amazing DH Acupuncture has been for me. I have been coming each week for about 8 months now and even though I’m a student with limited finances, it is the one thing that I always make sure I have room for in my budget. I re-aggravated a disc issue in my lower back in April and after trying all the best strategies I’ve known to help in the past (doctors, anti-inflammatories and physical therapy), I decided to give acupuncture a go. After 3 or 4 sessions, I could stand up while putting on my pants again, which I couldn’t even imagine bending enough to be able do before I started acupuncture. After 3 months of sessions, the pain didn’t limit me any further. I have gotten additional treatment with insomnia/mental health, a sprained ankle, fertility/egg freezing, and stomach pain. If a new injury or issue comes up, I let Dr. Lee know, and he adjusts the needle placement to cover it. I always feel so much better after an acupuncture and cupping session and I know that’s is due to both the skill of the doctor and the office environment/kindness of the staff. There is always light, relaxing music playing during a session and everything smells nice which really helps me to relax. The staff always has a cup of tea ready for you when your session is over, which is another special and thoughtful touch. Dr. Lee is very efficient and knowledgeable at what he does and it is very clear that he really cares about his patients and wants their health to improve, making it very easy to trust and feel comfortable with him. I was previously somewhat of a skeptic about this form of medicine, but now I know that there are a lot of areas where acupuncture can help people that they don’t even realize and highly recommend this business. I truly didn’t understand how much acupuncture would change my life before I started my appointments at DH Acupuncture and I look forward to continuing the amazing way I feel due to these treatments in...
