I want to share our very disturbing experience with Diki daycare.
Due to their negligence, our son had to see a doctor, who documented bruising and ruptured capillaries on his arm — the result of his arm being stuck for a prolonged period. He attended Diki only twice a week for three weeks, and during that short time, we encountered multiple serious issues. He managed to open the safety gate three times and walked out unsupervised, with a real risk of falling down two flights of stairs or getting into the elevator alone.
We have since filed a formal report with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene – Bureau of Child Care, Child Care Complaint Unit, and an inspection will be conducted.
When I called the daycare about the injuries the doctor had documented, they initially agreed to let me view the security footage. But when I arrived, they claimed the incident happened in the bathroom — where they said no cameras were installed. I then requested to view footage from the timeframe I suspected, based on photos I had, and what I saw was deeply upsetting: a teacher dragging our son and pushing him across the classroom in a way that was clearly aggressive and completely unacceptable.
UPDATE : After our report, the staff involved were sent for additional training. I found that decision deeply inappropriate, given the level of aggression we personally witnessed. In my opinion, they should have been dismissed. It’s extremely troubling that the management continues to stand by individuals who were clearly caught on camera acting aggressively toward children.
Please be extremely cautious when choosing a daycare for your child.
UPDATE 2: The response they posted under my review is simply not true. My son was two years old when he attended this daycare. After that, he went to Bright Start Learning Center, and now, after our move to California, he is happily enrolled in another kindergarten. He has never required any kind of special attention — just like any other child — and we’ve had only positive experiences elsewhere, unlike what we went through at Diki.
Also, if my statement about staff being sent for additional training after our report were incorrect, why hasn’t the management addressed or denied it? They know I have the official report — and I can attach it here if needed. They only responded to the part where they thought they could get away with twisting the truth. That silence on everything else speaks volumes.
This review is here to warn other parents. If it helps even one family avoid the experience we had, that’s more than...
Read moreA Heartfelt Thank You to the Diki Day Care Family 🌟 Our little angel began her steps into the world at Diki Day Care, and today, as she graduates and takes her next big step into kindergarten, we are filled with overwhelming gratitude and emotion.
From the very first day, the teachers and staff at Diki welcomed her with open arms, love, and the kind of warmth every parent dreams of for their child. Over the past two years, Diki Day Care has not just been a daycare, it has been a second home, a family, and a nurturing foundation where our daughter was truly seen, heard, and cherished.
The love, care, engagement, and dedication shown by the wonderful teachers has helped her grow in confidence, kindness, and curiosity. They didn’t just watch over her, they taught her how to explore the world, how to express her emotions, and how to believe in herself. Her laughter, her joy, even her tears, were all met with compassion and patience. She was never just a child in a classroom as she was part of the Diki's family.
As she embarks on her new journey into kindergarten, we carry with us the deep gratitude for every hug, every lesson, every shared smile, and every milestone celebrated. The foundation you have given her will guide her through the ups and downs of life with strength and love.
To every teacher and staff member at Diki Day Care: thank you. You’ve given our daughter the greatest gift; a joyful, safe, and loving start to her learning journey. Your impact will be felt in her heart forever.
With all our love and appreciation, A proud and...
Read moreMy now 4 yearold child has been at Diki for two years. This daycare was highly recommended to me by a very picky friend so i went with her suggestion without any research or comparrisons, trusting her word. I was not disappointed. I value warm, safe and carying environment for my child to be in and Diki daycare is exactly that, topped with compassionate and very accomodating caregivers whom i trusted from day one. The menu is as good or bad as in most other daycares or schools, spaghetti meatballs, macaroni and cheese, pizza on Fridays but they did improve their menu somewhat over time. Example: replaced fried chicken wings with checken tenders, added more fruits and veggies, and added chicked quesadillas to their Wednesday menu which kids seem to love. Again, not the food choice i make for my child at home but definitely not terible to have for lunch. Ms. Karen, the teacher has been teaching our son since he was 1 year old when he first enrolled at their 38st location. She has been attentive And kind and pinpointed my child’s shortcomings very caringly and carefully while conplimenting his good sides and milestones. One knew that she was paying attention. Mrs. Dickyi from Giraffe class stole our hearts with her loving and carying demeanor, her understanding of childs less desirable and complex sides that she doesnt just toss aside but addresses lovingly and carefully-thank you for that! I would definitely highly recommend this place to a close friend and will place my child in their care...
