Duane Reade — Local services in New York

This place an absolute dump. Went in a few days ago and was told they don't have a common prescription and told to come back. I went back in today and I just walked out. There was a single line down one aisle and the other aisles were empty of people (I know I walked them to get to the line). I was standing around for 15 minutes with 8 other people, and the same 2 people still at the counter the entire time, when some incompetent guy behind the counter decided that everyone who showed up after us, and decided to make a line in another aisle, would go first and tell us who had been waiting much longer to go to the new line. I come to the Duane Reade at 24946 Horace Harding Exp, Douglaston all the time. However, today’s experience was horrible. Customers’ safety is at risk.

I went there this morning to buy a few things and when I was about to leave, there was a guy blocking the door purposely not allowing me to exit. I asked the store employees for help. They refused, said there is nothing they can do and suggested to call 911. After I called 911, the guy left and police contacted me late for description of the incident.

I had to come in today with severe asthma attack and ask for emergency inhaler. Pharmacist Stephanie was exteremely unhelpful and careless. I could barely breathe. The astma attack was so severe that I thought that I would go into cardiac arrest right in the pharmacy. When I asked the pharmacist to contact my pharmacy they refused, stating that they need prescribtion form a doctor first and all my health insurance information before they can help me.
