Carvel — Restaurant in New York

The staff hired by this shop are polite and have a good attitude, but the boss is dishonest. Before ordering the cake, I confirmed the price again to make sure it was correct. However, just an hour after I paid, he called to say the price had increased. In order to keep my family’s party running smoothly, I paid the extra amount when I picked up the cake. I will never spend money at this shop again—it’s a dishonest business and not worth recommending to anyone!

Before making the payment, I confirmed the price with your cashier. I had seen your sample cake—an 8-inch chocolate with crunchy—for $40.99. I told the cashier I only wanted chocolate, without the crunchy. He said that if it’s just chocolate, the price would be cheaper—$29.99. I asked again to confirm, “It’s $29.99, right?” and he said yes. So I went ahead and paid.

If your staff had told me the price was $40.99, I would left and ordered from another Carvel store. I had already looked up cake information online, and I know other Carvel locations have different pricing from yours. Your store is not even listed on their official website—you have your own separate website.

I did hesitate about whether to place the order with your store. I ended up choosing you only because your location is close to my home, and I used to shop there frequently when the previous owner was running it.

Now, I just want to say—it’s disappointing that a plain 8-inch chocolate ice cream cake costs $40.99 plus tax. I wouldn’t recommend it to my friends.

This Carvel SCAMMED us!!! The total was $40.71 and all we bought was a cake and candle! We were very confused at the moment but we knew something was up because there was another carvel that I usually go to and the cake that was a little bigger and was only $22.00-$38.00 but since this one was closest to my house I decided to go there today. After we were about to leave, the employee (there was only one employee) gave us “free” ice cream sandwiches that originally cost $10.99!!!! This seemed fishy and we realized that he gave it to us because not that it was free, it was because we were actually PAYING for it!!! And now we are very MAD and is NEVER going there again! The weirdest part was that their was NO ONE there!!! And that’s probably why no one is there! 😡 (if there was a 0 star, I would give this...

Stopped in for a late, after dinner treat and was pleasantly surprised by this location. The staff is friendly, there is a seating area and there are so many choices and sheet cakes that I didn't even know Carvel offered. I've visited other Carvels over the years and to be honest, it was always cold, empty and transactional. But during my visit here, several customers and even a huge family came in for after dinner treats and were engaged and welcomed by the owner and staff. It was really great to see.
