This is for the 7/4/23 closing staff - I arrived at 9:48pm. The gate was down and the woman was already closing all registers. THEY CLOSE AT 10. There were also 2 men there - one NOT in uniform and appeared to be a "friend" of the woman/supervisor. But I'm unsure if he was a security guard (doubt it but still...)
The doors were locked. She kept saying "WE'RE CLOSED." I asked her what time do they close. She told me "10pm." I said, "All I need is Advil, I have a migraine and I promise I'll be in and out." She straight up told me NO and threw in "It's a holiday" (mind you, this location is not under holiday hours). She told me to go to the bodega to grab my medicine. I told her I don't trust the bodega/deli medicine (for those who don't know, sometimes the individual sale packets are counterfeit.) While standing outside Googling for any legitimate drug stores still open around me, they closed and were out of the store by 9:56pm. Still before their official closing time. Meaning they started closing procedures long before the time of store closing. Trust me, I'm not even one of those customers who like to hang back in stores late. I worked retail as a kid - it was a LOT. But to blatantly close hella early is ridiculous. I can even understand accepting "Card only" if you already counted out the register but this wasnt the case. On top of that, they were WILD disrespectful when I uttered "I guess it was that serious to catch those fireworks..." once they walked out. The male security guard / manager's bf (now I'm beginning to suspect he was never security because he was actually dressed hella casual with a snapback) started calling me all types of "b*ches" and told his girlfriend/manager to "Ignore that bch."
And if you are wondering, no -- I did not hang back to bother with them. I was by the train to see if I needed to hop on one to a another DR/CVS/etc. Their store just so happens to be located by that particular...
Read moreWARNING: THEY DO NOT STICK TO THEIR CLOSING HOURS! If you have to buy a last minute item or an emergency DO NOT go to this Duane Reade. I went there at 11:37pm (Their closing hours says 12am) for a last minute item on my way home and I really thought they were reliable but they already locked the doors and the worker just stood inside and mouthed "We are closed" to me. Needless to say, I was very upset as I needed my item for in the morning. Lesson learned: Do not rely on they, they are unreliable.
A similar experience happened to me twice before while inside the store and they started locking the doors 15-20 minutes before closing to prevent new customers coming in... if we as customers are a bother, please close your doors permanently and not when convenient for you.
P.S. A few staff members are usually polite as I am a regular there but tonight was a totally new face. My recommendation: change your opening hours and train your staff in...
Read moreGreat for price comparison and clearance because they often forget to remove out of date labels. Male manager is weird. (Loses a star) I had a faulty Halloween item to return the next day after purchase (11/1). He tried to give me back the reduced price as a day later it was in the sale. He huffed and puffed and price adjusted it while he held me receipt with the price paid 🤦🏾♀️. Well stocked with great security guards who actually have a presence and do their job. Unlike CVS at 145 who are forever out of stock of toilet paper / paper towels. I used this branch for about a year before I realised there’s a section behind the check out with non pharmacy items (candy / fridge and cards etc). Lots of queues but they move quickly. Pharmacy closes on the weekend - lose a star. Competitive own brand pricing. Entrance by...
