WARNING: Avoid this place at all costs. Wish I could give ZERO stars. This is the absolute worst hardware store in all of NYC. Their selection is awful, customer service is terrible, the products are overpriced, and the quality of everything is horrible.
I purchased a few mousetraps from here and one of them was defective - it did not snap at all when the trigger was pushed. I brought it back and showed it to them, they told me no one could help me and to come back. I came back a few days later as they asked me to and they basically talked behind my back in Spanish and then claimed to make a call to the owner/manager who supposedly told them not to offer a replacement or refund. So, they said nope, can't help you, tough luck.
I explained that it wasn't about the measly dollar for the trap itself - it's the principle of taking care of your customer and solidly backing the products that you choose to sell. They shrugged their shoulders and pretended not to understand.
To be honest, I was actually about to purchase an additional $30 worth of goods from them if they made things right, but since they did not, they lost out. I truly hope the so-called owner/manager reads this review and sees just how incompetent his/her store employees are.
Again, I stress to every single person in my neighborhood: AVOID THIS PLACE...

Late last week I went in here to pick up two pints of paint to test colors. The kid who came to help first said the machine was broken. When I asked when it would be fixed he said they didn't have any pints. I finally figured out he didn't know how to operate the machine and didn't want to say so.
Today we made the 20+ block trek (it's a nice day for a walk) down to here. I was heartened when I walked in and the older guy (who knows how to operate the paint machine) was putting chain back into a bucket.
So, I asked if he could help me with paint.
He looked at me, looked at the counter girl, then back at me and said "We're too busy. Come back in an hour." I told him I couldn't come back in an hour (what am I supposed to DO for an hour?). He shrugged, turned and walked away.
If I'm standing there asking to buy something that makes me a prospective (and past) customer. If you haven't time to help me whom will you help?
I really don't like going to Home Depot. But I've never had someone tell me they were too busy to help me. They may have absolutely no clue what they're doing but they will TRY to be helpful.
I'll never set foot in an NHS Hardware again. I recommend you give them a...
Read moreEach and every single time I have walked into this hardware store, I am not greeted warmly let alone assisted with ANYTHING. Just moments ago, I walked in 3 employees were sitting around by the door. I said hello, and asked a question. To which one of the men said "What!" Rather abruptly. I then politely asked again. They said nothing audible.... there was several seconds of uncomfortable silence and I thanked them and left. The question, "Do you have drills?". Safe to say, I will NEVER step foot in this shady "hardware...
