It might just be personal preference or I came in a bad day but everything was super salty and my lemonade almost gave me diabetes. I ate half the food because my liver started hurting from too much salt and gave the rest to a hobo. I can’t believe I spend almost 50$ here. Next time I want dominican food I think I’ll just go to those pizza places that have DR food on the side cause this food is almost a health hazard or maybe it was just the cook who put too much of everything, I really dont know. I’ve tried Mofongo del valle and the food is actually seasoned properly there.
I did like that the ingredients were fresh and the person next to me ordered a salmon which looked really nice and tasty, the pictures from other reviews look nice too and I wished I had ordered that.
Little tip I have is that if you order black rice with red beans, you have to specifically tell them a side of beans otherwise they will just give you black rice and charge you extra for the side. The beans on the black rice needed to be boiled for longer, they were starchy on the middle.
I hope to come back when a better cook is there because this place has potential and Id like to see it do better so I can stop going to Chipotle...
Read morei'm sorry to say but if you lived in the neighborhood as long as i have 47 years you know that this place made the most delicious stake sandwich ever in which for the past 2 years they have lost the original flavor the ajo which was what made the sandwich pop is gone forever i was sooo disappointed when i visited in hopes that it was the same and it was not.
i waited 45 mins for my sandwich because they had had to remake the sandwich 3 times smh
1 i asked burnt onions they served me with raw onions 2 the cook ended up serving very few slices of stake remake to add more meat 3 i ask for their special ajo for the stake i got regular ajo used for the tostones/fried plantain..
all in all don't expect for the famous teste to be the same because it is so not the same at all far from it.
i feel if there is new owners change the name if you are not going to keep the same taste you are deceiving people well the people that know...
Read moreOh me, oh my! The caribbean fare here is so outstanding! From the assortment of rice (blanco, amarillo, chaulafan, arroz con pollo) to beans (gandules, habichuelas rojas, blanco [lima], o negro), various inspired themes on chicken, pork, fish, and beef--I am never disappointed to eat here. The food is always delicious. I recently had fried fish, with lima bean soup, yellow rice con vegetales, plántano maduro, and authentic Morir Sonañdo. ¡Qué rico! One night, I was shocked to find the nostalgic southern delicacy stewed okra, cooked often by my southern Black American mom when I was growing up, among their list of offerings. How eclectic! I also love how the standing speakers cranking out nostalgic Latin tunes add to the homey ambience. I come for the people, music, food, and laid-back vibes. The staff is friendly and the service is on point. If you are a foodie and love good...
