Elan Salon & Day Spa — Local services in New York

I will never come here again ever. Website has false prices. Their website says $120 for a partial balayage yet I just walked out with a $265+ tip bill. I turned down all the extra “add-ons” that they suggested I add. Can you imagine if I didn’t!? They didn’t blow dry or style my hair (they dried just the top so that I could see the color) and no haircut was included. (I did know this going in though and did not plan to have my hair cut). This being said I don’t know how anyone could possibly be okay with spending this much money for a partial balayage - the stylist did no more than 10 foils. I feel absolutely and completely robbed and have such a bitter taste in my mouth. I am only giving it a 2 star and not a 1 because the girl who did my hair did do a good job with the color.

But honestly just go somewhere else that is actually transparent with their prices before you go in and has a friendly face. The stylist was great but the manager that creates the prices/runs this place is very unfriendly and I have no desire to support her business in any way ever again.

I also heard and watched her yell at a spa patron who made an apt with someone that she normally sees and was upset because the manager informed her that she was sorry but that person whom she’d made an appointment with just took someone else and so she needed to use someone else or come back another time with a take it or leave...

Elan is my one-stop shop for all my beauty and skin/body care needs. Every single time I have been there for a service - whether it's for a hair color, cut, blowout, facial, massage, mani/pedi - has been nothing short of a fantastic experience. As a veteran client of six years, I can't think of a better salon/spa (and I've been to a fair share of them in New York City and New Jersey). All the stylists, estheticians, massage therapists, and mani/pedi staff are highly trained, courteous, respectful, patient, and just downright awesome. They really take pride in listening to you, and ensuring that you receive the utmost quality of service. Elan truly is a place where I go to unwind, relax, and get everything I need without having to worry about whether I'll react to any of the products used, which is a major concern for me. I also know that they have taken the time to do everything perfect. I just love, love, love this place. P.S. I highly recommend Nikolas for a massage. The lady who did my hair, I believe her name was Maria did my hair really nice and I definitely recommend her. The reason why I am taking 3 stars off is because the customer care I got from the manager was absolutely disgusting. First off, BEFORE I came in to get my hair done they told me that it will be $390. AFTER, they had racked up the price to $495! Not only was this absurd, they have a misleading price booklet that has not been updated. I was told that the new prices are online. How are you going to change the prices online but not update them in the price booklet at the salon?

Also, they charged me $80 for a haircut that was not even a haircut, it was a trim. When I was talking to the manager whose name is Julie about this, she was being really rude and started yelling at us for her prices and how we should have checked the prices online.

I do not recommend this place. Prices are misleading. Manager was acting crazy and would not even listen to a word I said, she kept interrupting me and trying to talk over...
