Some of the men at the front desk at this location are discriminatory and abusive towards non-white clients, including a black guy named Robert Johnson. I thought I was the only one complaining about being yelled at, spoken to like I was being arrested, intimidated, and having to go through hoops to prove I belonged there. But I ended up speaking to three other clients and one STAFF MEMBER who also had the same problem with the same people. This has been going on for over a year and a half now, and numerous complaints have gotten nowhere. As such I will never patronize Equinox again and I encourage everyone to do the same.

I tend to think their business is doing bad regardless given the poor state of their facilities across NYC. A friend of mine who went to a location downtown said the showers were broken for months.
Edit: don't buy the bs response from the company below. It is identical to what they said when I first contacted them about this issue. They did nothing and just gaslit those of us who...
Read moreThis location is a case where you DO NOT get what you pay for. Being one of the most expensive locations you’d expect an incredible service. However what you get is very limited hours, ignored emails and poor treatment. The gym closes at 9PM and they start harassing you to leave at 8PM. Staff keeps rushing you out verbally or with looks because they’re being constantly getting yelled by their mangers on the radio. I end up not going to the gym if I leave work after 7PM to avoid the hassle of getting treated like I’m asking for a favor. Counting that they don’t open on weekends, I’m probably able to get to the gym only two or three times a week. I’m paying almost 300 bucks for 2x week workout. What a deal, huh?
The person who signs you up is very nice and responsive before they get your money. Afterwards they vanish. I’ve requested to downgrade my membership two months ago but my email remains...

However, the manager Bryan is a very unhelpful person and very happy to scam/steal money.
I canceled my membership May 5th in person, then they charged me May 23, June 23. As I was overseas I was unable to check statements, after arriving back in NY, I see 2 unauthorized charges and I called on June 21st, I was told a manager would call me back either same day or before which I said make sure before this next cycle, decides to call me back a day after "billing" on June 24th to tell me I needed something in writing I canceled. When I said check your video footage and audio recording, he said we wont. Trying to scam someone out of 3 months of $333 is ridiculous. 0 care from Bryan to even do...
