My sales rep Mickey from Columbus Circle gets full credit for my incredible experience. He fit me in the perfect shoes, and left me feeling confident and knowledgeable on not only my feet /shoe/socks but also my running training. He was patient, knowledgable, supportive, and so positive and pleasant that I will definitely be asking for Mickey when I get my next shoe.
Mickey made sure he understood what I wanted shoes for, what my current running shoe was, and what preferences I had. He broke the foot scan down for me to where I understood each of the metrics and his strategy for fitting me in shoes. He gave me a series of shoes to try on without explaining why he had try each on, so that I could give an unbiased opinion on what felt right and what felt wrong. He took the feedback against the metrics and was able to narrow down exactly the right shoe and size I needed and fit me in a brand that is perfect for my foot. He was so knowledgable on not only the shoe but all things running and training that he was able to point out issues that my physical therapist and I were working on. This guy really knew his stuff.
He was very patient with all of my questions which left me comfortable and confident in my purchases. The shoes he fit me in has completely changed my running and pain for the better. He offered suggestions in terms of building a shoe collection but did not make me feel pressured or obligated to buy.
He really made my shoe buying experience fantastic, as I came in uncertain, nervous, and already with a bad taste in my mouth from the previous poor shoe-buying experience at another location. As someone inexperienced in running, I'm so thankful to have gotten Mickey to put me in the...
Read moreI went in the store midday in the middle of the week to buy a pair of shoes. The man in the sales area had finished helping the 1 other customer in the shoe area and was talking to her about her upcoming race. He completely ignored me and continued to ignore me so I started looking at shoes on the wall and picked a few I wanted to try, thinking he would finish up and help me. I now stood and waited and he never looked at me or made eye contact or showed any plan to help me, though I was standing 3 feet from him. After about 10 more minutes of this, I asked if he could help me and he glared and said I'll be with you in a minute. Then when the other customer finally got up to leave he actually said, nastily, "what do you want?" I responded that I wanted a pair of Brooks similar to the ones I was wearing, Then instead of asking what activity I used them for or any other helpful question, he said in a hostile tone "then I don't know why you picked THOSE shoes. They are nothing like yours." I could describe the rest of the unbelievably rude exchange but in summary, I left without buying shoes and decided that I would never enter that store again. It was a truly shocking experience. I went into the store instead of ordering online so that an experienced salesperson could help me select a pair of suitable shoes. I have now seen several low reviews for this store and saw that the owner responded to the reviews but I'm wondering why you aren't looking into the customer service in the store. Several of the reviews are close to my...
Read moreIf you're in the market for running shoes or apparel, or even just have some questions about running in general, then New York Running Company is where you need to be. Located on the second floor of the Columbus Circle Shops, this place is expansive, and boy does it have some great customer service. I've come here on several occasions to check out some new running shoes and snag some new shorts and tops and have had a great experience each time.
When you walk in, you're greeted with their apparel section. From Asics to Mizuno to Nike and New Balance, they pretty much have every major running label here so selection is not an issue. Make your way towards the back of the store, and there you'll find the shoe section. Here is where I'd say you'll spend the most of your time at. Whether or not you know exactly which shoe you want, or need a ton of help, NYRC is there to help you. With their specialists, they'll help do a quick gait analysis from you running on their treadmill, and then assist you in picking out your next pair of running shoes.
At NYRC, I've purchased compression socks, shoe inserts, and other random tidbits. After every purchase here, I am left feeling that I had made an informed decision that will, in the end, help me with my runs.
