A hidden gem in the back of Salon87 in Williamsburg! I cannot say enough about the healing artistry that Akiko embodies. . Intuitive and highly skilled, Akiko is a true healer. Her kindness, warmth and knowledge were incredibly nurturing and powerful. She's also a wonderful ayurvedic practitioner. She really helped me check my baggage at the door and brought me into my body and the moment with a vibration (exercise? Mediation?) I don’t know how to describe it, but it was amazing…. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. By far the most relaxing massage I’ve EVER had. I left my appointment yesterday feeling relaxed, calm and dewy:) She's truly a treasure! So glad I opted for the 90 minutes. I will definitely treat myself to the 120 soon. @bodyworkwithakiko @ayurvedictreatmentbysalon87 @akikokurizuka

I went in with all brown, natural hair and was looking for a balayage. I left admittedly unsure of the stylist, Aya, did, but thought, "it just must be the salon lighting". I went home and inspected further and I was in shock. My hair had banding, orange, bright yellow hues, and it was terrible. I was in disbelief that I paid for the service, let alone left a gracious tip. I will attach photos. I had to visit another salon for a complete color correction that cost me over $450. The stylist who did my correction could not believe they left me leave with such a bad color. I hate writing poor reviews, but this was necessary. I would not recommend, nor will I be back. Update: The salon took full ownership and gave a full refund. They were very professional and understanding.

Akiko’s Abhyanga (Ayurvedic body massage) + Marma Face Massage was one of the most relaxing massages I’ve ever had. She integrates her skill in different tools and techniques into a soothing relaxing experience. The warm oil brought me immediately into a deep calm. It really warmed up my cold body and by the end of the session, I felt very energetic and alert. Going into the Marma Face massage part of my session, my eyes were puffy and this detoxing session relieved it a lot. I could feel my eyes ā€œperkā€ up after the massage and my mind became clearer. After leaving the salon, I could still fall into deep relaxation just by closing my eyes. I will definitely try the Sirodhara (Third Eye Healing) from her that my friends recommended next time!

I love this salon as a whole, my first visit was five stars. Great cut and even better highlights. I only had one visit but I loved my stylist and the salon design and comfort. Three months later (very overdue) and I moved away from greenpoint to prospect park south and I found myself with a night off and I needed my hair done for an event. The guy (sorry I forgot name!!) I had been to was booked, but another stylist had an opening, and trusting the salon as a whole I booked it. Went for my appt, and she told me she had just started here, and was thankful for me booking with her. Well I asked for a simple cut.... about three inches off and I wanted the length to be very straight across. She styled it and I looked good. But when I got home and started messing with it, I realized that the difference in length from the back to the front was over an inch difference. It looks ridiculous, and exactly what I didn't ask for. I tried emailing from the website (as they don't have a phone number) and no one ever got back to me.

Edit: heard back (they hadn't received my e-mail) and they went above and beyond to take care of me, and offered my original stylist Tsuyoshi to fix me up! Very grateful. May have been a subtle fix up but it made a huge difference to me!! I will continue to make the trek up to Williamsburg to see them....

I had the best time and most relaxing Brain Detox with Mie at Salon 87 in East Williamsburg. I picked the 90 min option was $150 that includes:

Foot massage with eye stone Head, Facial massage DƩcolletƩ (neck & chest) oil treatment Gua sha Head massage Closing massage (Shoulders)

I found the space very clean and cozy, will definitely go back for more.

Go get a BRAIN DETOX at Salon87 in Brooklyn with Mie, you’ll thank me later.šŸ’†šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

🧠Brain Detox is a treatment developed by Japanese therapist Emiko Fujikawa, and is a completely new esthetic treatment that is expected to be effective for beauty and health maintenance. In Japan, it is called ā€œNosenjoā€ and has been well received by many Japanese celebrities.

🧠This new type of spa treatment will help to release muscle tension, reduce brain fatigue, and relax the body and the mind.

🧠Brain detox reduces brain fatigue, regulates the autonomic nervous system, and leads to good sleep and improved immunity.

🧠This is a very safe treatment. It can be performed on all genders, all ages from 7, and those who are pregnant.

0430 on a Sunday morning, I’m listening to my friend on the phone lament and anguish over his life woes. Legitimately difficult for me to believe that women have the capacity to be cruel in any way but that’s his lived experience and I am nothing if not a dependable, comforting ear to gab into. Wow, he should relax I thought. As well could I, booking an appointment online and arriving a few short hours later at opening. Hot camomile tea and a head massage. perfumed, primped, bathed in bright sunshine after 11 days either rainy or completely cloudy in this, the greatest city on earth. I’ll be back at the very least to loiter. My husband just called and he’s reading the meaning of Lil Pump’s Butterfly Doors lyrics off of Rap genius. He’s reading Gucci gang at this moment however. ā€œMy lean cost more than your rent, your momma still lives in a tent.ā€ RG: ā€œlean is a popular drink that originated in Houston, Texas, etcā€. It’s still morning, I can tell it will be a stellar day. Review continued in The...
