Disappointing Experience with Architectural Services. I typically don't write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with Gerald J. Caliendoto inform others. My experience led me to question the authenticity of his positive reviewes, which definitely written by his employees or family. After signing the contract, Mr Caliendo became permanently unavailable, and I was redirected to his unexpereinced interns instead. Deadlines were frequently missed without prior notice, causing a domino effect on the rest of the construction process, which cost me thousands of dollars. The primary concern arose when our building was audited by the Department of Buildings and it was found that the plans did not comply with the Construction Code. This was a critical error on the part of Mr Caliendo who, as a professional, should have been well-versed in these regulations. What compounded my frustration was the architect's decision to charge me a few thousands dollars for revising the plans to meet the code requirements. Correcting a professional error, especially one that should have been avoided given the architect's expertise, SHOULD NOT be an additional financial burden on the client!!!!!!!!! I highly recommend reading all negative (honest) reviews, before deciding to hire Caliendo. Overpriced with hidden fees!!...

I live in a Gerald Caliendo designed building - View Astoria. Completed in 2021, it has a wild list of problems. Water pools on the upstairs balconies, and rushes into the 7th floor units, which of course drains down into the 6th floor units (ours.) The basement usually has several inches of water in it. Poorly designed units and garage, and the soundproofing is non existent. I don't know if they also chose the finishes (flooring, lighting) but it is insane that this pasted together cardboard is billed as "luxury". I'm sure their designs made for a lovely CAD drawing, but the reality of living here is...
