I recently had the pleasure of canceling my Planet Fitness membership, which I held since 2021. Back then, it was the best gym in the area, open 24/7 on weekdays. Fast forward to today, and it's a shadow of its former self.
Hours: Gone are the 24/7 days. Now, it’s as unpredictable as a toddler’s nap schedule.
Staff: The manager is a gem of incompetence. Not only is she unqualified, but she also seems to have a special talent for discrimination. If you’re a minority, expect to be treated like an unwelcome guest. She’ll go out of her way to make you so uncomfortable that canceling your membership feels like a vacation. The staff members take their cues from her, greeting their "own people" warmly while ignoring minorities. Professionalism? Never heard of it.
Equipment: Once reliable, the machines now seem designed to injure rather than help. Treadmills that could double as medieval torture devices, and a grand total of 4 smith machines and 1 leg press for the entire gym. Clearly, they believe in keeping cardio equipment that nobody uses in prime condition while ignoring the broken ones. Most of the machines are broken, a lot of treadmills don't work, and the cardio machines that barely get used just occupy space. With only 4 smith machines, which is never enough, and a single free weight leg press machine that's always occupied, get ready to wait.
Overcrowding: The gym is so packed in the afternoons and evenings that finding an empty machine is like winning the lottery. And don’t even get me started on the summer passes for high school students – a masterstroke in crowd control failure.
Membership Scam: Upgrading to a Black Card membership? Don’t. Unless you enjoy hidden fees and unexpected contracts. I learned the hard way that upgrading binds you to a one-year contract with a $58 cancellation fee. Naturally, this crucial info is buried in the fine print, because transparency is for suckers.
Customer Service: The staff couldn’t care less about you. They’ll happily ignore you unless you’re one of their own. Recent highlight? A staff member decided to clean the walls during peak workout time, making sure to interrupt everyone’s session. Priorities!
Gym Etiquette: To the folks who expect everyone to smell like a bouquet while working out: are you at the gym to exercise or to win a fragrance award? When you work out, you sweat. And guess what? Sweating means you might smell, no matter how much perfume you drown yourself in. If you can’t handle the reality of people sweating in a gym, maybe try a private gym where no one sweats, or better yet, work out in a park or at home.
To my Desi community and anyone who values respect, do yourself a favor: steer clear of this trashy establishment. Planet Fitness has perfected the art of disrespect and discrimination, making it a place to avoid...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that I've been a long time member of 18 years with Bally Total Fitness. I left them when 24 Hour Fitness bought them out, raised prices without bringing any improvements, and not being a actual 24 hour fitness. I've wanted to join Planet Fitness for a while now, but these reviews are very negative, and I chose to believe them. After wasting thousands for my own gym and using it for anything but working out, I decided that its time I try out the gym for myself. I nearly signed up for equinox, and I am so happy that I didn't, because what I pay for planet fitness for a year is nearly what equinox costs in one month. I chose the $20 per month membership, which is actually $20.83, and that is a huge bargain in comparison to what I am getting from going to this gym. I've been going there for a month already, and these are my thoughts: The gym is no equinox, but it doesn't have to be, because all I want is to workout and stay fit. I love the feeling that this gym promotes, and you can be in shape or out of it, but no one will judge you for it. People go there for one reason only, and it is to workout. The gym is clean, and no equipment is broken. Rarely do I ever have to wait for a machine, and almost everyone wipes it after the use. Same staff that scan your card are the one that clean the place, and they do it often. One complaint I have is those big windows let in way too much sunlight, which makes working out close to them is a bit tough, definitely get a tan while doing so lol. Simple fix is to turn machines facing the other way. Locker room/Bathroom/Showers, I have no complaints about, always clean and never nasty smell. It's the first gym that I actually shower in. Ballys was just nasty, I hope 24 Hour fixed that issue. I mean if I have to compare both gyms, PF is thousand times better. I am not a muscle head, but PF gym has almost everything I need. Wish they added few more Ab machines, but so far it'll do. Lots of cardio equipment, which I now use as well. Overall I highly recommend this gym, and I am so thankful that I did not go the...
Read moreI like this gym I been going for almost a year now and never really had any issues one time I was over charged and a male manager was so nice and on top of it and helped me out right away. I always pay my bill on time and never have an overdue balance. In October I up graded my membership to the black card so I can be able to get full access of the gym on December 1st I was charged a annual fee which I wasn’t suppose to be charged because my annual fee is not until March 2019 so I was charged twice in one year I called my club that same day and spoke with a staff member they told me they would tell the manager and she would call me 2 days past so I decided to call i spoke with the manager and she assured me she would fix the problem I told her she didn’t have to refund my money but if she could credit to my account I was appreciate it she told me she would a day later I went in to the gym and swiped my card and the staff memeber told me my card had an over due balance I explained everything to him and he said he would let the manger know what my card was saying. Today I check my bank account and notice the gym charged me another annual fee now at this point I am upset I called twice to speak with the manger because I was told by the staff she is the only one who can fix it and she has yet to speak to me when she finally came around she wouldn’t get on the phone and spoke to me though a staff member I’m so angry at this establishment why is it so hard to just fix a problem that is not my fault but theirs I did everything planet fitness told me too and yet the manger feels the need to be rude and not speak to me direct like she is hiding and now I’m upset I try to be professional but the customer service here is...
