I decided to try out Glowbar after my colleague and friend gave it a great recommendation, I also had a gift card I received as a birthday gift. During my first experience, I felt like the facial was meh and that my esthetician at the time did an okay job. Not enough for me to commit to the monthly membership. I felt my skin drying out and knew I needed some hydration, so I decided to give Glowbar union square another shot! This time around my facial was great and my esthetician Rebecca S, was friendly, knowledgeable and honest about what my skin needed. I was sold and decided to move forward with the membership and have Rebecca as my go too! I booked my appt for the following month and was actually excited and thrilled for the experience. I was running a little late and decided to call and let them know as I was aware of the over 5 min late policy. It took a while to get through but finally someone answered. The woman who answered was pleasant and reassured me that it was okay and she would see me soon. I was a block away when I received a text saying I was running late and that i should call. A minute later I received a call from another woman or the same, stating that my appointment would need to be modified because I was over 5 mins late. I tried to communicate that I literally had just called and spoke to someone and was not given that information. I asked for a manager and was told that he was present and I could speak to him when I arrived. I hung up and walked in and was greeted by both the employee and manager at the front. The manager was an African American male. I explained the situation to him and told him that I was not made aware of the modification piece when I called the first time. To have to pay for a facial that only lasts 30 mins to be cut short makes no sense to me as I would appreciate the full experience. If I would have been made aware of this when I first called I would have just rescheduled. The manager offered to take me with the modification or have me reschedule. At that point I was already annoyed and hot from walking all the way there to be let down. He was not phased by me asking to cancel, but offered to rebook me at a different location as I requested, but I declined. Customer service is about keeping clients not getting rid of them. The communication was off and the manager and employee both acted nonchalantly. No apologies, no understanding, nothing! That interaction was such a turn off as a new customer. Rebecca was great but I rather take my time and money...
Read moreFirst time customer, decided to visit this location because of the great reviews of the location and the estheticians. My esthetician was really sweet and informative; which is why I am even given this place any stars.
Even though after my glow facial I was a bit surprised because I am use to a bit more extractions. I frequently get facials once every 2-3 months. However, I looked at things with a different persecutive, âmaybe my face didnât need itâ
To make the long story short, after a few days I noticed a really bad breakout on my cheek area. My appointment was on 3.18, I contacted them on 3.22 via phone + email expressing my concerns and including current photos of before and after. My face was and is looking worst than when I received my facial. I didnât received a reply until like 3-4 days later by Robbie and that ONLY because I contacted them again via phone. Received an email with questions, then 24 hours later another with more questions about my products that I use and skin routine. I understand if this was my first time ever getting a facial but I get them often. So why would I do anything differently between my skin care routine. If my products or routine were the problem, then I would get a breakout every time I get a facial. It was like they were digging into my products vs their own products.
Also, wondering why I am still being contacted via email, being that this is serious matter.
Last email was on 3.29 today is 3.31, still waiting on a solution and reply.
To treat customers without any sense of urgency is not kind.
Very disappointed in his my situation was handled. After this experience, I do not recommend. Go to a location that actually cares. I didnât want nor want anything free, all I was trying do find a solution about what went wrong and what I needed to stay from or add in my...
Read moreWish I could say I loved my experience, but it was truly lackluster. The space is beautiful and modern. However, to put it simply, the facial was too express for my liking. You're basically in and out.
The esthetician failed to describe what she was applying to my skin, not even telling me what actives were in the chemical peel and I had to ask her what she was using each time. I was adamant about wanting extractions to be the treatment focus, but she tried to convince me that I didn't need extractions even though there was visible congestion and texture. She used an ultrasonic extractor over my nose and that was the end of it - no manual extractions whatsoever. However, she was lovely to chat to and I appreciated her advice - although she did try to tell me that my period does not cause breakouts even though hormonal acne is universally and scientifically acknowledged.
I left feeling as though I spent nearly $70 for zero results. My skin felt ever so slightly smoother, but the texture and congestion was still there.
Would not recommend for people wanting tried and true results. I would pay double the price for more time...
