125 Street Metronorth station is located in a neighborhood that is going through some gentrification, but the area is still a bit rough. I wouldn't recommend walking around at night. But the station itself, although a little run down, still has some of its beauty from earlier days. The waiting area on the main floor has beautifully maintained wood architecture. The bathrooms are often closed and that is an issue if nature calls, my feeling is they keep them locked to keep the drug users and homeless out of there. If you go outside, there is some pretty cool artwork on the old station's outside walls. The old station is right across the street. During the day, I feel like this area is safe enough to walk around. There are plenty of cops and i have seen them chase away the drug addicts and crazies. Keep some spare change in your pocket, so if you come across an aggressive panhandler, you can toss a few coins his way ,but usually, if you just ignore them they will leave you alone. There are small shops and places to grab a quick bite to eat just a short walk away if you want to get to know the...

Train station has lots of trains stopping. Has 4 tracks on 2 platforms that are one level up. There are 2 elevators, to the right and just after you enter the train station, for handicap people, one for each platform. There are 2 sets of stairs in the back to each platform. There is a large display just as you enter, so look up and check which track you need, especially if you are in a BIG hurry. There are few more monitors that show the trains information. Also on each track there is a display on the next 4 trains arrival times. So you can double check that you are at the right place so will miss your train. This train station has both men and women bathrooms but they were locked when I was last at this train station, which was pasted midnight. I assume bathrooms are open during the day....

This is MetroNorth’s main exchange station through which pass the Harlem, Hudson, and New Haven lines. Anybody going southwards into Manhattan (such as to Midtown East) is advised to take the MetroNorth rather than riding New York City’s grungy subway, since this railroad is cleaner, quieter and much faster. The platform features a heated enclosure for awaiting trains, and digitized signs announcing the arrivals and departures. An elevator also runs to the platforms. There are also vending machines at which one can pre-purchase one’s tickets (which is less expensive than buying them on-board).
