I’ve lived at Hudson Crossing for over 12 years and could not be happier.
LOCATION: Location location location is amazing!!!! I love the convenience of being in the heart of the city. The fact that it so close to everything from great restaurants, grocery stores, the subway lines, MSG, theatre district, The Highline & bars is fantastic…...I can literally walk anywhere. Over the years the neighbourhood has changed and more people live on the Westside so it’s bustling and sometimes colorful but I have never encountered any problems. If I wanted serenity and no people around I would have moved to the suburbs. It is afterall New York City.
BUILDING: Although Hudson Crossing is not as new as the other buildings that have sprung up with their shiny marble lobby’s they have worked hard and successfully to update the property. This includes updates to the interior and all the floor hallways, the outdoor deck with new furniture with greenery and BBQ grills, the gym with flat screen TV’s & Wifi and most recently the laundry room. I personally don’t care about a water fountain in lobby as I don’t live in that space….I’m just passing thru to go to my apartment. Which brings me to…..
APARTMENT: New York apartment living requires some serious thought as apartments, even so-called luxury apartments are small…..mine is just under 500sqft. I had an interior designer (Elizabeth Vizzone) come in many years ago to help. The first thing she did was purchase smaller furniture suitable for the size of the apartment. This was genius as I never feel cramped. I recently had her come in to help with a home office and couldn't be happier with the layout. I have great light (I face west) and more than enough closet space to hold 60+ pairs of shoes. Crown molding or closet space…...closet space for me wins everytime. Ps. I have NEVER ever seen a roach.
ON-SITE AND MANAGEMENT TEAM: This has played a huge role in my living here. The day to day staff from the great doormen, to the maintenance crew have been outstanding, thoughtful, professional, efficient and friendly. Any issues I have had, which have been very few over the many years, have been addressed immediately and resolved. This professionalism extends also to the on-site leasing team and the management company, Equity Residential, which have worked with me seamlessly & effortlessly for me to continue living and enjoying my apartment and the amenities. Their support has been outstanding.
At the end of the day it’s not only just my apartment but the people who work here who have made this my...
Read moreI can't overstate how fantastic the front desk staff is. Each front desk worker greets you with a smile and goes above and beyond to make your day a little bit easier. Whether that means helping you get a package shipped or assisting you with heavy bags, the front desk staff is very friendly and professional. The service team is also very attentive and responds quickly to requests for repairs. Both teams made it hard to leave Hudson Crossing.
Unfortunately, the leasing team made it a lot easier, since they were hard to contact and inflexible about lease renewal terms amid COVID-19. When my roommate and I made the decision to leave, we were told someone from the building would schedule a pre-move out inspection as well as one after we had removed all of our items from the unit. Upon inquiring about the date and time of our inspections, a leasing team member said that in order to practice social distancing (although the leasing team was working back in the office in the building by this point in June), they were not doing in-person inspections, but that we could send over photos and videos and they would provide feedback. We sent ample photos and videos of the entire apartment but never heard back from anyone on the leasing team. Weeks later, we received an incomplete security deposit. When asked why, it took the leasing team over a week and numerous followup emails to tell us that things they would've seen had anyone opened our photos and videos—as well as issues that predated our living in the apartment—were the cause. We've been unable to reach them again and because of a lack of communication on Hudson Crossing's side as well as an inability to find new COVID protocols that work for residents, we are still missing a portion of our security deposit that I believe we are entitled to.
It's disappointing that the service team's unprofessionalism outweighs the kindness and competence exhibited by the front desk and service teams, but I would recommend avoiding dealing with the leasing team if you can as it will only result in a headache and possibly the significant loss of money on your part. They certainly put profits over people which makes it hard for Hudson Crossing to...
Read moreI have built AWESOME relationships with the concierge/maintenance teams who work at Hudson Crossing, I appreciate their friendliness and they have always been amazing to connect and build relationships with!
However, I have recently had a challenging, unfortunate experience with the office. I found a lot of mold in the bathroom of my studio appt (and then it was found in the wall) and am extremely concerned I've been sleeping next to it for 2 years, and due to my already existing health issue, I was extremely upset and worried. While the office had a mold company come and remove the mold, I was quickly kicked out of the apartment to find a cheap hotel to stay at for over a week (I understand and accept that this was a fast update because they wanted to remove the mold quickly). While they handled the process professionally and well, I felt I was not heard and it was a transactional experience, ignoring how me, the immunocompromised tenant, was affected by this. I requested at least a month of free rent due to the inconvenience and mold situation (anyone I know in other apartments received at least that in any situation related to mold) but I was rejected and ignored, and shown a very specific line in the lease (I understand, but again, the process was solely transactional).
It has now been a month and I still have not received the reimbursement of the amount of money I paid to relocate that week. I am frustrated with the experience as I've loved living here but now feel disappointed re how this has been handled.
Hopefully others have a...
