After 18 yrs of shopping in the Bedford Ave store , I cannot spend my money in there any longer. Between advertising one price, charging another & price gouging through the pandemic, this morning took the cake. To ensure social distancing rules, the lines are down the aisles, which was pretty long, but that is expected. I stood on the line & had about 4 people in front of me. The cashier on the right was taking customers. When there were 2 ppl in front of me she announces she is only doing western union & lotto. So now the cashier (Franchesca) on the left starts working, so it would only make sense she would be taking the next customer. Just as it was my turn, the one on the right walks away, all of a sudden she went from WU & lotto to picking up shopping baskets. As I approach Franchesca, the cashier at the WU & lotto counter took the lady behind me. As it was my turn Franchesca decides to tell me I'm not on line & she is taking people from the other aisle that already had 2 cashiers tending to that line. I vented the fact I have been standing on the line & the other cashier stated she is only taking WU & lotto & she should be cashing me & the others on the line. Franchesca declares I could go & shop somewhere else. She is correct! I do not have to shop at Ideal Food Basket, where me or my money is respected. There is Key Food, Pioneer, Stop & Shop, Associated all in close proximity for me to spend my money, where it is valued. I have many family members & friends that live in this same community & will encourage them to boycott this store. Franchesca sure didn't understand the power of her words & how it can cost her, her...
Read moreWent to the Ideal Food Basket on 6/9/21 located @ 2036 Bedford Ave. I had spent some time in the aisle comparing their prices to that of online prices of Basmati and Thai Jasmine Rice with the aid of Google lens, being a thrifty shopper, looking around for the best deals. These 2 rice are at different placement within the store so I did walk to & fro a few times. A male spanish worker looked at me and judged me to be up to no good. I eventually cashed a few goods with the cashier, loaded my goods back into their handcart because my wheeled bag was at the baggage check-in. The same male spanish worker in passing saw me packing my bag there and told the baggage lad to check me for receipt, insinuating I may have stolen from the store. That was an INSULT to me because I believe if I was a white shopper or his spanish people that guy would have never done that, heard it before that some spanish -not all- look down on blacks. Also previous shopping trips there, I was never asked to show my receipt to collect my bag so this was quite surprising to me. Complained to the manager - he trying to tell me the spanish guy may have done that because I went back into the aisle with my shopping bag- FALSE. As a mature, rational thinking adult I would not embarrassed myself and my family to get arrested and go to jail for a few goods worth under $20. Last time shopping at that supermarket, I will NEVER...
Read moreMove to this neighborhood about a year ago. Use to go as it’s a big grocery store that sells decent meat, one day tho, after picking up my daughter from daycare I tried to go in, got up to the fruit section and a man came out from no where walked in front of my stroller and daughter who was out walking about and stopped, didn’t say anything just wouldn’t move, I tried to go around him and he did it again, I told him excuse me and he tried to tell me in what little English he spoke I needed to leave my “BAGS” at the front……. Didn’t even know he worked at the store…..
It was my daughter’s diaper bag…… I grabbed my daughters had and walked right out.
That was a good 8 months ago…. I haven’t been back since
If people are going to steal there is honestly nothing you can do about it. And it’s a grocery store so even if they did it’s food. Regardless I’m not going to shop somewhere where I am treated like a thief. I don’t go into any store that makes me give up my bags, especially...
