I really wanted to love this place as a local option in the area. Iâm still hopeful that, with time, theyâll work out the kinks and adopt a stronger customer service mindset.
I booked a day pass to finally check out the space. At first, I wasnât particularly impressed by the aestheticsâit has a somewhat DIY feelâbut after a while, the nostalgia started to grow on me, making the space feel familiar and comforting. That said, a few refinements could help elevate the experience.
After spending some time in the sauna and pools, I decided to check out the steam room, only to find it wasnât on. I looked around for an attendant and asked if there was a button to activate it. Thatâs when I was told, âOh, itâs not working. It should be back up tomorrow⌠maybe in a few days.â The steam room was a big reason for my visit, so this was a bit off-putting. It would have been helpful to know this before bookingâor at the very least, at check-in when I received my robe and slippers. Instead, I had to discover it on my own. Other guests came in expecting the same. Hearing multiple people express their surprise made it feel like the omission was intentional, which left a bad taste in my mouth. The space is fairly open, and conversations carry easilyâsomething they may want to consider addressing with some soundproofing.
I decided to leave instead of being literally hot and bothered. Before exiting, I went to pay for a beverage I had upstairs, thinking maybe there would be some gesture to acknowledge the inconvenienceâbut nothing. No effort to make things right, no small courtesy to encourage a return visit. It felt like a missed opportunity to turn a disappointing experience around.
A few additional thoughts; Some signage about bathhouse etiquette would be great. The constant full-throat conversations take away from the ambiance for those who came to unwind. Also, the thong-style slippers werenât ideal. They tended to stick to the floor, especially in the locker room, making walking uncomfortable.
Iâm leaving this review in the hope that these issues get addressed, because I want to see this place thrive. I want to see local businesses succeed and help keep the area from becoming overly commercialized. But customer service mattersâespecially when a major feature of the facility is out of order. A little more transparency and care could make all...
Read moreI'm so excited that there is now a bath house spa facility in Flatbush, Brooklyn!! I'm over the moon! Lately, I've been traveling at least an hour each way to get to a similar, affordable place so this location is a huge plus!
I finally made some time to check it out today. It's Wednesday, March 5th 2025.
The cost for a day pass is $50 on weekdays and that gets you 4 hours to use the facilities. (I'm not used to time limits, but since 4 hours is a reasonable time frame, I'm not bothered by it.) If you book one of their services, like a massage or a body scrub, admittance to the wet spa facilities is included.
If you want to book a massage or scrub or anything like that, be sure to book it beforehand online. I just walked in and since the staff for those services had not been pre-booked, they weren't available.
When you enter, you are given the usual essentials. Their variation is: flip-flop sandals, 2 towels and a bathrobe as well as a lock with the key on a bracelet.
A bathing suit is required because although there are separate locker rooms for men and women, the saunas, steam room and pools are coed.
There is a dry sauna, wet sauna, hot pool, cold plunge pool and regular temperature pool. I'm a little disappointed that the hot pool didn't have any jets when I visited, but I still enjoyed it.
I was upset that the steam room was out of service for repairs and no one told me, however. I would have picked another day because the steam room is an essential part of my spa experience. When I mentioned this to staff, they addressed my concerns in a satisfactory manner. I'll be sure to ask if anything is out of service first next time.
But in general this place is clean, nicely decorated and has friendly, helpful staff. I love the convenient location on Flatbush Ave between Clarkson and Parkside. They also have a restaurant and other community facilities. I'm looking forward to...
Read moreIâm a local and I REALLY wanted to like this place because I travel all the way - 1hr- to Williamsburg for their bathhouse. I hope this review helps work out the kinks of being new. While it was nice having the place to ourselves even though the time slot right before was somehow sold out, I have a lot to say. I went with my partner (about $100) and the visit was pricey compared to Williamsburg/flat iron bathhouse. We were very disappointed. The steam room smelled off. Like dirty. The cold plunge wasnât very cold but average cold. Didnât seem like a cold plunge at all. The regular pool was very cold. Not as cold as what appeared to be the cold plunge. Too cold to be relaxing to be in. The hot pool was fine, average. The dry sauna felt off- like hard to breath and not heated properly. I barely sweat. The tropical sauna, same thing- something felt off and barely sweat compared to other bathhouses. My partner sat out most of her visit I felt very guilty I brought her and spent that money. It seems their temperatures are off for everything. Next, the towel felt luxurious but it would be nice to have extras around. The food options didnât sound appetizing. We didnât get anything and were so hungry after. It is nice they offer flip flops and locks but they both could be upgraded to a little wristband for lock and more comfortable slippers or options. I find flip flops between my toes very uncomfortable and prefer slip ons. Lastly, the drains didnât work great in the showers and sauna- lots of water on the ground. Unfortunately, as much as Iâd love to walk down the block to a local sauna, Iâd rather pay the same or less and make the long commute to Williamsburg Bathouse where they just expanded their space and is so so nice. I hope this...
